Ys: Ancient Ys Vanished Omen / Ys Eternal / Ys I Complete / Ys I Chronicles Ancient Ys Vanished Omen started it all. It was originally released in 1987, and got released on just about every system available at the time. In 1998, Ys ETERNAL was released for Windows - it had several features the original version lacked. In 2001, Ys ETERNAL was slightly improved and got released once again - known as Ys COMPLETE. Ys I was released in North America and Europe.
Ys II: The Final Chapter / Ys II Eternal / Ys II Complete / Ys II Chronicles Ancient Ys Vanished The Final Chapter was a direct sequel to the first game. It started the moment Ancient Ys Vanished Omen ended. It was also released on just about every system available at the time. In 2000, Ys II Eternal was released, and as with Ys ETERNAL, it was a remake that included several new features. In 2001, Ys II Eternal was slightly improved and got released once again - known as Ys II COMPLETE. Ys II was released in North America.
Ys V: Lost Kefin, Capital of Sand / Ys V Expert Ys V: Lost Kefin, Capital of Sand may be titled Ys V, but it is actually the sixth Ys game, since there are two different versions of Ys IV. It was released in 1995 for Nintendo Super Famicom. The year after, a new version of Ys V was released by Koei – Ys V Expert - the gameplay was slightly harder, but the game remained the same. In 2006, Taito released the PS2 remake.
Ys VI: The Ark of Napishtim Ys VI: The Ark of Napishtim was released for Windows in 2003, and was the first new Ys game in eight years. It was a huge success in Japan - which encouraged Konami to port the game to PS2 and release it worldwide. In January 2006 they released a PSP version of Ys VI in Japan.
