help a newb out. I'm being told that I'm "not on a channel" and that I "haven't registered"

I tried typing this into the command prompt:
<param name="command1" value="/join #ys">

but I got nowhere because I'm not registered.

Does it connect? If not, type:

/server IRC.efnet.net

If you are connected, type:

/j #ys

That should do it.

Better server (feakin' Efnet!), bot (TMS9918a helps a lot) and more users (well, potential users anyway).

This is also a "real" channel that won't disappear, like the other one did. The IRC client on the website is a lot better too, but I'm using Mirc myself.

I tried to connect to it but i didn't find any channel with that name.
