Well I had installed Felghana on this computer about a week ago before my internet crapped out (hence why I was gone), so I figured "Yay, I have no way of connecting to the internet, so I'll pass time by playing Oath!" However this was not the case as the game would not run at all on my computer and I'm beyond sad. So anyway, left with an installed game I can't play, I decided to use falconvrt and look through the games tiles and models. Falcom put a ton of effort into this and the textures for the models are real high quality. This one I think is Galbalan, though since I haven't played the game, I'm not sure. Click the thumbnail for the fullview. Anywho, I started coming across files that related to Napishtim, like items and area names. Windseeker Heights specifically showed up, though I'm sure a couple others did as well. So what I wanna know is, do these items and locations merely serve as cameo fodder, or are they serving some specific purpose ingame? Another fun bonus I found were these pics of Isha and Olha in the configuration file. (which I also can't open for some stupid ass reason) They are comical to say the least: Anyone know what's up with those as well? I hate not being able to play the game and being so uninformed.

To put it simply, all that hasn't ANY connection to Ys VI itself. The thing is, Falcom recycled SO MUCH from Ys VI to create YsF and YsO that you can actually see all those leftover text strings, images etc. (and in the case of YsO, I think there's YsF leftover data in it as well). That Isha in swimsuit picture is news to me and also wasn't used even in Ys VI itself. As for Olha, I knew she had 2 different bikini incarnations in Ys VI, but that swimsuit is also news to me. '

lol, wtf is that? XD Now I feel like checking all of the content of PC Ys games. XD
Also, no idea who that girl is. Perhaps Feena, Reah or Olha on a different... costume? I don't think so, but I really am out of cards.
By the way, since we are into this already, an Ys-maniac friend of mine who has been working on Ys II COMPLETE's translation project to portuguese has once told me he had found in the game's script "Naked Feena". It was supposed to be one of the mascot's name. ... '._.

Yeah, I really like falconvrt lately and began a ripping project for Oath in Felghana, though assembly of the spritesheets is gonna take a fuckload of time. Adol has like eleventy million separate frames of animation.

I have a feeling that the "Hidden" tiles are just used as a sort of test area. the ground tiles looks like grass so this might well be the case. Anyone know who the girl is though? I'm guessing its some character made specifically for debugging or just drawn for giggles.
And them bathing suits... man those got me super perplexed....

OmG, MP. I have heard of those Windows mascots before btw. Also, nice explanations for the swimsuits and kanji, Wyrd. Awesome. *agrees with koa*

Wow. I had no idea a search engine like that even existed. Good show indeed! Hope you didn't use up too much... *MP* on that. Maybe it cost... *83* MP to cast the Find spell? ;) *Does the obligatory rolling of eyes* :3

Dumpster diving in old threads today, and wow what a find. First of all, that is some really cool content you've come across koa. Second, MP that is an awesome search engine. I'm bookmarking that with the quickness.

The whole point of Oath was to connect what was a completely unrelated game into the rest of the Ys mythos. The Valestein Castle crowd being changed to Romuns, Galbalan spounting lines about what's obviously the Ark of Napishtim and so on. Clearly this wasn't a case of code-reuse or some Falcom staffers having a laugh, it's a deliberate meta-commentary on the purpose of Oath as relates to Ys VI. Or something.

lol yeah that's what I always thought as well.... I recently replayed Ys VI with the new pc patch (woooo doppi! xD ) and noticed I think twice "wait... was that monster called an original galbalan? whattt...!" So yeah even if it was a reused engine for 3 games, I like that they went back and tied the whole series together. At least Adol has a cohesive (for the most part.... COUGHYS4REMAKEPLEASECOUGH) journey now!

What is the actual name of the falcom depacker?
I had it a while back, but I've forgotten where I got it and which hacking site it was from. It had depackers for all the windows Falcom games, anyone have a link?
