Actually, I have precisely the same problem myself. But it's related to the video files. Both video files can be turned off from the config (download nightwolve's utility to see the config in English). Another working way is to reencode the opening movie

To reencode the movie ? Like I did to Grandia 2 (PC) with virtual dub ? How ?

Yeah, re-encoding would do it...but it doesn't satisfy me. I wish I understood WHY it messes up. I really bugs me that an actual game that I paid for would come with videos that crash my system. It makes me think there is something wrong with my codecs or something, and that it's a problem I would like to solve instead of formulating a cheap work-around like re-encoding. I've installed WMP10 and ffdshow, so I don't understand what could be wrong.

Another method is to install the missing drivers using VideoInspector. (cuz sometime you think you have every drivers you need but you're wrong)

I've been looking at this game for quite some time. Although it sucks I can't understand it, I might just give it a chance given the positive feedback.

it is FAR from being bad. ED6, IMO, is the best PC game I've played. you can't judge the game by first appearances... you should NEVER judge it by how it seems at first.
oh gillian, you dont know me, but i know you from HF and a few other forums...surprisingly everywhere i googled "eiyuu densetsu VI" i see your name... but thanks for your guide...it was kinda short but it helped. (took me whole 27 hours to beat game. XP)

Hello everyone! I'm new here, but I'm a lifelong Falcom nut. I finished ED VI some time ago, and loved every minute of it. I found the walkthrough about halfway through the game, but I decided to just keep playing on my own. I love this game and the soundtrack, sometimes I wish they would have used some of those "unused tracks" though. Call me crazy, but I made it through this game without any help, and I don't understand Japanese. When I started reading how quickly some of you finished it, I almost choked. I had beaten the odds and learned the overall mechanics of the game through trial and error, and it became a personal quest of mine to beat it without any help. I would love to hear what party members any of you used in the final battle and what level you were on. My ultimate team was Agate, Joshua, Estelle, and Zin. All were on level 40 and I had gotten the best weapon and armor possible for each of them as far as I know. It took a lot of patience, but it took me about 90 hrs. (playing off and on over 5 months) to finish. I don't regret taking my time with it, because I'm eagerly awaiting the sequel now more because of all the work I put into the game.

wow i choked when i saw how much time you spent on ED6... lol but not to offend you. you're pretty dang good then if you didnt rely on help at all. i played ED6 a second time (and still loved it) and got about 25 hours...2 less than my first... -_- for my lineup i used estelle, joshua, klose and agate all at lvl39 and the best armor/weapon except for the best weps for joshua and estelle becuase i missed 1 book. -_- anyway i kinda found it easy to kill the robot using agate as the bait (XP) but laurance/roransu(?) was a pain so ...i kinda cheated on that one. XD

Hello, BlankVoid, I'm glad you put up your Ed VI stats. Thanks. My hats off to any one who beat the game as quickly as you did. I have good experience with import games, I even beat the Ys VI PC without any help, but I think what took me so long is that in order not to get lost in the game, I had to be patient and talk to everybody several times in every town. Anyway, this game rocks! Agate Crosner was my favorite, with Tita Russell a close second. It's a SHAME we will probably never get a properly translated version. I may look for guides when the second chapter comes out. I had to rely on a guide for Legend of Xanadu I heavily, if anyone has played that game, they will know what I'm talking about. I look forward to hearing about anyone else's experiences with this game. In the mean time, soon I'm gonna pre order the Ys IV PS2 remake.

i didnt play them, but i thought agate was pretty good until the later part of the games. i was going to stick with olivier since he had white gehana or tita but agate was cool. XP chapter 2 probably wont come out for a long time...maybe 2006...HOPEFULLY without any delays...

Legend Of Heroes is Eiyuu Densetsu, right? Cuz I saw two Legend Of Heroes PSP games for sale, imported of course, so in Japanese =(. Just wondering if anyone knew about them. They're called: Legend of Heroes: Gagharv Trilogy and Legend of Heroes: Gagharv Trilogy Red Drop

Yes, that is right. The Gagharv Trilogy consists of Legend of Heroes III (the white witch) IV, (a tear of vermillion) and V (a cagesong of the ocean). I'm almost done with the PC Engine version of LOH I, I have II but haven't gotten into it too much yet, love the soundtracks to all of them though, and I am dying to play the others in the series, since VI was so awesome.

That's cool, thanks for the info. So, since the Gagharv Trilogy consists of Legend of Heroes III, IV, and V, is it like Ys Book I&II on PC Engine, where it just transists to the next "game"? And what about the second one I mentioned, Legend of Heroes: Gagharv Trilogy Red Drop?
