Is there already a petition of re-releasing MotS onto the Wii Virtual Console here in the US? If not then it is ok to make one? If anyone wants to see it happened, then I will make a petition of it as well. ^^

the virtual console only releases games that were already released before. MotS was never released officially for the SNES in the US, at least not by my knowledge.

Have you ever checked the front page? The news fader mentions the Ys IV fan translation. It should be obvious it was never released in English officially. As for Virtual Console games... well, I know of at least one Japan-only game that got released in North America and Europe - Battle Lode Runner, and it will probably happen again. Anyway, you've got to be one optimistic dood to even consider hoping that Ys IV will be released for VC... even in Japan! It's not going to happen, ever. And they most definitely WILL NOT translate it and release it outside of Japan. That will never happen, and that is a promise, even though I have no affiliation with Nintendo. A petition with 300 signatures (if you'd even get that much) won't change a thing. Hell, a petition with 300 thousand signatures won't change a thing. Petitions never work - especially not online petitions. PS: No Ys game will make it to Virtual Console, just FYI. Download a ROM or something instead.

Well, first they need to figure out how to get the CD games from the TurboGrafx onto the virtual console, because so far we've only seen HU-card games and other non CD games.
If that happens then MAYBE we get Ys I&II on there.
but that is a long shot. *goes back to playing Ys I&II on PC-Engine*

I think the main problem of playing CD Games is the size of the games. Hu Cards are much smaller than a 650mb game with full cd-audio tracks (it's not like every cd game is 650 mb but ..)

true, but now with toshiba releasing 32GB SD cards, size is not a problem. and most people have DSL anyways. source

Wii cannot read data directly from memory cards, only transfer files to or from them. If you put your VC games on a memory card, you can not play them until you transfer them back to the console. Therefore, there will never be PCE CD games on the Wii, as the internal memory is only 512 MB, and plenty of that is reserved for other data such as save files, settings, various Wii channes, etc etc. In fact, you cannot even store many current Wii VC games (and they aren't big) because of the tiny internal memory.
Stop dreaming, and buy a computer.

at least with photo's it can directly from the SD card, so it's probably more of a software thing. only needs a firmware upgrade. hell, even with a firmware upgrade it could support external HDD's. but probably they won't because of the illegal stuff you can do with that.

"No Ys game will make it to Virtual Console" "there will never be PCE CD games on the Wii" hehehe, I just cant resist, but... really? as for MotS, at this point I'd say anything could be possible, and probably even sooner than you'd think. I just found it funny how this announcement came so soon after this thread.

I hope they didn't cut off the voice acting. And I hope the music and sound quality wasn't reduced.
I'm worried, because I always thought PCE CD games would never come to Wii's VC. Too huge. I hope they didn't have to modify anything at all...

realistically, if MotS ever comes out outside of Japan for VC, it'll be after they release Ys I to III and they'll probably leave it untouched and in Japanese. That's if they bring it at all. Personally, I don't think I really care all that much anymore because I've played through MotS and DoY and most of the other hard to get Ys games, in English and (in some cases) with better music. I'm just excited that Ys Book I & II is coming to VC because now everyone I know can see why I rave about it so much. And really, Ys Book I & II is my favorite Ys game so far.

The only "huge" thing about PCE-CD games is the uncompressed redbook audio. With audio compression technology being what it is these days, it's not a concern. Look at Symphony of the Night for XBLA. About the same amount of music/speech. That sounds "encouraging". I hope you are right. = )

Not really, considering Dragon Slayer: The Legend of Heroes has been available for just about every system in existance ever since 1989. If I were to play it, Wii would be the LAST system I did it on.

Bah the game is cheap enough on ebay, plus the box and instructions are deadly. I like VC games but still find that playing them on their home console just.... "feels better".
