Hi I'm new here at the forums and I just recently learned about Ys IV: The Dawn of Ys being different from Mask of the Sun and that it had been fan translated. I just started playing it recently and I remembered reading that there was a plan to fandub the voices. I was trying to find out more about this project and well, here I am.
I used to do some voice impressions and such awhile back using a mic just for kicks and people told me that some of impressions I did were not too bad. Stuff like Solid Snake's voice, Barry Burton from RE, Kain from Legacy of Kain, Dracula from SotN etc. I also co-headed a Suikoden voiceacting of the script awhile back doing the parts of Viktor and Flik, but it fell through. So, sure, I'd be willing to take a shot at it and at least audtion and see what goes from there. I really have no preference as to what characters to voiceact as, so whatever you all need, if I make the cut of course.
But yeah, nice to meet all of you and this is a neat idea getting fans from an Ys community interested in a project like this. I'm a huge Ys fan and I think it would be nice to participate in an Ys community like this.

Hi. I certainly appreciate all the help I can get. Here's a cast listing. The markings indicate what's already been done or partially done, etc.. To understand it, follow the guide at the bottom of the page. www.justusjohnston.com/ys4/cast.txtAs you should plainly see, what we really need the most of right now is minor male roles. If you remain interested, please send an audition...just anything I can use to determine whether or not you can act. Mainly, more than the quality of the voice, I'm looking for people who can sound like they are NOT reading from a script (for instance, the voice talent of Symphony of the Night, while they had really appropriately chosen voices, all sounded as if they were reading from a script, the voice "talent" of Star Ocean 2 sounded as if they all had colds, were reading from a script, using a shitty mic, AND were mildly retarded).

Like a script of everything in the first game? Suikoden is my 2nd favorite game series ever, (Ys as 1st, & Lunar as 3rd) so this is intersting to me. BTW, I don't know what you though, but Suikoden 4 rocks, it has it's flaws, but it's alot closer to being like the first 2.

Yeah, basically it was a reading of the entire script from Suikoden I NTSC in something of a radio drama format. Unfortunately I'm pretty sure it is not active anymore. It was kind of hard because there were too many parts to give out (Over 108) and people didn't seem to take the project serious enough to stay on board with it. It also kind of changed hands a few times especially after I closed down my Suikoden community site, The Castle or SuikoCastle which was alive for a little over a year. The site became flooded with spammers and the integrity of the forum was lost. But yeah, Suikoden used to be my favorite series and Suikoden II is still my favorite game, although Panzer Dragoon, Ys, Zelda, Lunar, Resident Evil, Megaman, Metroid and Legacy of Kain are probably my favorite series. Good to meet another Suikoden fan here though. ^^
I just sent some clips to Justus to see if he can use my voice for any parts, we'll see. I am very interested in this project if I make the cut.

I think we still need more girls for the project, they're harder to come by here, since I think there's only 3, & I don't know if they're doing any parts. I know Justus has a girl or 2 doing some voices, & my wife is Lilia, our friend Jessica is Feena &, well I'll let you try to figure out who else she is, & her sister is probably Lair, though, she's been flaky......as usual. I still have ALOT to record for myself as well, as the narrator. Maybe this weekend since Jessica is sick, we won't be recording Feena or Lair.

I think I'm intrested! Maybe you can expect some voice files from me soon! I don't have a good studio, so I going to have to do PCM voices only. My e-mail address is arjak2@yahoo.comYou can also try to instant message me. You'll hear from me soon! When can I expect to recieve that program that will change the file type?

I'm having a real problem with recording. I'm 15, and my voice hasn't broken yet; I sound like a girl! Are there ANY parts I could do?

I'd say you might be able to play Tim, but if I remember correctly, he speaks at the very end, so, probably not, though it's up to Justus.

None of us have heard from him in a while. I think he's just reallllllllly busy, atleast I hope that's all it is, rather than something bad happened to him? Well, either way, he's probably not ignoring you, since none of us have heard from him. He does typically have a buys schedule all the time.

It's not like it used to be here without him. But he said he was working on a new studio, and moving out and all. Probably takes up a lot of time.

I think all the roles are taken, I'm not sure how much dialogue is finished. I don't even know if he moved out of the area or not, but he did move somewhere.

Hi everyone, I've come back to check this place out after being away for awhile. I was wondering as to what ever happened with this voice dubbing project. Is it still going?

Nobody knows. Justus is gone. Sort of. Last time I heard from him he said that he might start the project around X-mas 2005, and if that happened it would probably be finished pretty quick. Not heard from him after that though, so I haven't got a clue.
