I've managed to rip an image of the Ys IV disc as per the instructions, my .bin file is 771,213,744 bytes which is OK. I copied all the patch stuff into the directory and ran the .bat file which applied the patch with no problems.
The problem I have now is that I can't seem to burn the image back onto CD using either CDRWin or Nero. When I select the CUE file in CDR win I get the error: Error: Invalid CUE SHEET command at line 1. Unable to find or open file
In NERO I get a similar thing: An error occured while loading the cue sheet file 'C:\YsIV\Ys4.cue'. (Line 1).
Anyone have any ideas or step by step instructions?

Do you plan on using an emulator or a Turbo Grafx cd system?

Either, but probably Magic Engine. If I can't get a CD burnt then I could try some disc image mounting software I suppose.

Yeah thats what I did......I downloaded Daemon tools which acts as a cd rom drive.....then I mounted the cue file (not the bin file) then opened up magic engine....it works great.......but first I had to go in the pce.ini file in magic engine folder and change the boot up drive to a different drive....i hope this helps.

Have you tried opening the cue file in notepad & messing around with it? Sometimes you can fix the problem by looking at other cue sheets & copying there example. Personally, I don't remember having a problem with the last version of the english patch, but I'm not burning another one, until we finish the dubbing, so I can't really help you, other than just telling you to mess with the first line in the cue sheet.

Ah, thanks guys, I have it sorted now. Because I was duplicating the CD image before patching, the .cue file retained an incorrect location of the binary file. A simple change in notepad and voila!
My god, I can't wait to play through in English AT LAST. This is the best thing ever.
