I'm stuck in the end of YsIV: The Dawn of Ys. There are two things: 1. I need to go back to that army guy's room (I can't remember what his name was for some reason). Leo. Possibly. I need a potion for that, but what ingredients do I need, and how do I get them? (I have Batu ash already). 2. In the final dungeon, right before the battle with.. (damn, I forgot his name too!!). Anyway, there are lots of "sliding" doors. You need to push the right buttons, and I just can't get through! Deuce's guide just says "it'll take a few minutes". Hehe. I'm not that good with this type of puzzle.. Anyway, any help would be appreciated. I'm a little tired right now (very tired) so this post may be a little.... ehm, well, strange.

Damn, it's been a loooooong time since I played thru that game. I remember the thing with the potion, but I can't remember the ingrediants. I don't even remember the sliding thing though I'll have to think about about this to jog my memory.

I think I might be able to help....
The potion for invisibility requires two ingredients. One ingredient is bought at a store in the town by where you had to fight the first boss in the cave. The second ingredient is given to you when you go outside of that town (by the lava stage) and blow the flute that Carna gives you and the bird will bring it to you.
As for the maze of moving walls, just dont give up, you will get it. I believe you must first go to the far right door and just start hitting switches, then when you finally make it back down, go in the left door and hit switches until you make it through. I hope this helps enough for a boost in karma lol.

Thanks for the info! I'll be sure to try it out! A question about those moving walls: when you leave the room, all the switches reset, right? It seems like they do, but I can't be sure.

I believe if you mean when you leave the door, no they dont reset.... but if you mean leave the SCREEN maybe they reset (not sure)..... All I remember is there are two doors you can go into to activate the switches which moves the walls. I remember going in the far right door first and hitting the switches and then exiting back through that door and then going into the left door and hitting all the switches. It took me like 5 or so minutes til I finally got through.

I went to the place before the fire dungeon and called for the bird. But that damn bird won't give me anything. Not even a letter! I'm so impatient. I don't think I'll ever pick this one up again.

LOL......After I think about it, it might not be that area where the bird gives the extra item for the invisible potion. There is another area where you blow the flute outside of Promorock.....it could be there, but I know I am correct on this. As for the doors switching, just be patient!! It shouldnt take you that long.

There's something with the bird area, I called the bird just outside Promarock, and it gave me a "Yolm's Root", I reloaded my savestat to try it again, but it didn't work this time, so I reloaded my savestat again, and again, and it only worked the 5th time or so. You might have to check the areas more than once or always reload savestats (I'm playing with an emulator) I didn't tried with normal saving, though.
I was also able to make that Black Potion XD no need to reply to my very very old post in "I've hit a wall in Ys 4 (literally)" @.@;

I'm leaving my notes here for other Ys fans to get over this weird Leo sidequest.
Whenever I went to the bird pole near promarock, either the bird told me the usual message at this point in the game (Things are messed up, glad you're fine) or nothing at all past the first message. What I did was warp back to say, Arieda, go to the bird stand next to the fire cave and call the bird again. At this point it said nothing.
Then I warped back to Promarock and lo and behold.. yom's herb (or something)
I finally got the clear potion made for me and yay!! new gear!!
That was kinda tough, and the one FAQ on gamefaqs wasn't much help on this one.
Hope I cleared it up for everyone now.

Well, I never actually got any help last time, so I'm asking again.
WHAT are you supposed to do with the puzzle mentioned in the first post in this thread? I'm there again, and I don't have a clue what to do here. I hate this place. It's impossible. I've spent way too much time trying to solve this crap, and I'm getting really sick of this. I've never actually gotten past this point in the game, because I always give up when I get here. I don't know if you're SUPPOSED to solve this puzzle, or if it's just pointless. Anyway, what happens if I solve it? Is it even possible? From what I can see, it doesn't lead you anywhere or anything, and there's no treasure chest in this room either.
I've double checked - every time you leave the room, the doors reset. It doesn't matter if you enter via the right or the left door, because it will reset when you exit.
Please, please tell me this puzzle is useless, because if isn't, I'll never play this game again.
