I just got my own copy of the PCE ver. of 3, (I've had the US one for years mind you), & in listening to the intro, they do clearly call him Galbalan. I'm not sure if people thought the game, whether it be US or Japanese, called him Demanicus, but, it doesn't. Which makes it even stranger when I hear the Genesis version got translated the same way, tis' odd.

Some version of Ys I refers to Dark Fact as "Maleficus"... so uh... yeah. Retards abound.

Galbalan is the Japanese name.

It's also the name of him in the SNES version, not to mention, a Galbalan is a type of creature in Ys 6, which is what Demanicus is. In a way, you can look at Demanicus as being his individual name.

I guess, but I prefer to pretend that the "Demanicus" name doesn't exist, because it sounds so utterly stupid and unimaginative. Demon = Demanicus! Yeah! It's like naming a squirrel "Squirrelly." Or a Harlequinn "Douka Master?" Sorry. Couldn't resist. Do have a minor question, though. Is Galbalan at all related to the Ys VI Galba's? I seem to remember this being brought up in another thread, but... I can't find the thread to see if it was answered. <<'

Yeah, what Deuce said, it's like it's hinted at them being the same. Basically, giving more connection between the games.......that, & along with the King being a Romun now, don't think that was ever mentioned in any other version of Ys 3.

So, he's only a king in the Turbo version? Or atleast I thought he was always called a King.
