I ordered it for over a month ago, but I finally have it! I haven't watched it yet, since I don't have a DVD-player with the correct region, but I will buy one shortly.
Only having this anime makes me feel great! I will order the other parts too, as soon as possible!
Have you seen/got any of the Ys animes? Or maybe even mangas?

No. It's region 1. USA. (It really feels like I said this sometime, but I guess I didn't). And no, I haven't seen it yet (hell, I can't change region on the Mac with the DVD player, and I haven't got any for my PC). I'll get one soon, for my PC, that is.

just got mine in the mail a few days ago, $10 brand new sealed(and it is not a bootleg) but the problem is that this is utter crap. THere is no japanese voice option, the english actors are horrid.
But really the plot moves at such a sluggish and redundant pace, it is almost unwatchable. a pity :/

Are we talking about the same anime? In the one I bought ($27! Expensive!), you can choose between japanese/english talking..

yeah that is what I am talking about. but i am not too impressed with the anime of Ys. the only good thing about it is the music, which is lifted stright from the Ys cds.
just a suggestion, but shouldnt we move this to the anime forum?

I hear Ys series II: Castle in the sky should be a very good Ys anime. I know where it can be bought, and I'll do that as soon as I've gotten my DVD player region-free.

alrighty i moved the topic  I really hate to think that mine is a bootleg. It says made in japan, but when i select the japanese voice option, i till get english voices. eh, i am not going t be watching it again anyways. and if i see a sale for another Ys anime, i might give it a shot, but it would have to be really cheap, i was not impressed with book I at all. |

Hmm, where did you get it? Was it new? I bought it from a bookstore in Sweden, and it's very authentic, I'm sure. It has the publisher logo on it (Don't remember the name of that, though).... Also, they have the two remaining Ys animes. (There's three more, but the fourth one wasn't dubbed/translated/whatever). The last one is based on Ys IV, btw. Edit: I have bought a DVD player (not for the computer, though), but it's not region free yet (the shop would do that for about $10), so I haven't watched mine yet. |

So i think it is legit. But I cant get japanese language, only the crappy american voices, tho the animation and storytelling are pretty weak.

It isn't rare, it's very easy to get ahold of the DVD's. Check any DVD store, and they might just have it.

What’s the deferens between book 1 & 2 and castle in the sky? Can u pleas explain.

Well, book one and two are based on the plotline in Ys I. Castle in the sky is based on the plotline of Ys II. So it's two different series. Hence the name "Series 2" on Castle in the sky. There is also an anime based on Ys IV. But it never got translated and it's only avaliable in japan. Yes, there is some bonus material. Check the Amazon page. |
