I've seen more anime than any one person should see (over 200+ complete series). I've also cosplayed. I certainly think that qualifies my as an otaku.

Let him be what he wants to be, don't prejudicese him just because Otaku in Japan sometimes = perverted people who sleeps with bed clothes... Or how to write it

I consider myself a fan of anime. I'm nowhere near the otaku level because:
1. I don't cosplay 2. I don't buy anime merchandise 3. I don't go to anime conventions 4. I don't join any anime clubs
However, I do enjoy just watching anime and I'm happy with that.

When someone Cosplays, she/he ENTERTAINS others. Just to point that out so you don't think that all so-called "otakus" sit in their basement screwing their beds and buying dolls.
That are just the worst-kind examples of Otakus. In my oppinion that is.
