Got the DVD today^^ Being an artist, I grabbed the DVD for the documentaries. And the film itself (since I've seenit so many times already, including the LA English version screening) serves a fine addition to my growing "reference materials" library (and perhaps one of the best looking ones out there!!). Actually it's an excuse for me to grab the LE Patlabor movie DVD Box^^ And yeah I bought it for the 2 books included Those Gatchaman DVDs look tempting though..... I do wish they fleshed out the new characters (especially Denzel)in Advent Children rather than giving Cloud a new emotional problem (and a lame one compared to his [SPOILERS!!!] multi personality disorder!!!) ZURU-ZURU-SHILLY-SHALLY!!!!

Watch it again. And again. And again. Cloud dislikes fighting, but is not reluctant to do so. Like an animal, when trapped in the corner he'll attack. In the movie he was faced with one alternative - stop those that wish to reawaken Jenova and recreate Sephiroth. Fanservice? Sure. I'm not going to disagree with that. But what did you expect from a movie made directly after the game? Consequently, FF7 has been the only movie I've seen ever come to America based on a game that hasn't completly sucked in every way. But as an adult, I can agree to disagree though I think you're too quick to judge it. You seem unable to see through your dislike of fanservice bias to enjoy it. Easy solution, don't watch it again

Personally, as much as I enjoyed it, I really found it annoying that Tseng and Rufus were still alive.

Now there's a debate on whats real & whats false:
According to this month's EGM, FFVII will be remade for the PS3.
True or False?
You Decide.

I saw that too, I hope it's true. But the remake I wanted we may never get. FF VI is what I want to see remade. Now that they're putting out that FF VI Advance, it will probably never happen.

Square has just realized that they're making too many Final Fantasy games.
FFX-2 (instead of FF11) FF Crystal Chronicles (instead of FF12) FF XIII, FF Versus XIII and that cellphone FFXIII Oh and the 50000 FFVII games.
If they had given every new FF game a new number, we would be at FFXXXXXXIII now.

Silly Seldane! You mean FF LXIII!
Also, I am remembering back in the good ole days, When Seiken Densetsu was released as Final Fantasy Adventure. I wonder if they're veering toward a similiar strategy nowadays, just calling anything FF because it sells.

I weep for this thread.
You do understand why they name the FF games the way they do... don't you?

It know it was called Final because it was Square's last chance not to go bankrupt when the first one was released.
It's sorta not been a problem since then.

I actually thought it was a 'good' movie; or I should say it was a good 'video game sequel' movie. You see, people are complaining about character development. They forget that the characters have already been developed in the game. All the characters knew each other and are friends.
Since matrix has been used already I put it in the terms of the matrix. Try watching the second movie before the first movie. You won't get it and you'll think the characters were underdeveloped. Personally, I thought they should have stopped after the first one anyway, but to get back to the point... in Advent Children the characters already had developed personalities. There was no reason to develop them any more. The new characters, if you could even call them new, were side characters. Every body fit into their role nicely and Cloud got a cool fight against Sephiroth again.
They answered a few of the questions that people had after playing ff7, and new ones were created. We are getting at least 3 different final fantasy 7 sequels/prequels. That will flesh them out even more. So I think the movie was 'good' in that it served it's purpose.

Your words cut like a knife Nah, everyone has their likes and dislikes. I hated the second matrix. Anyway, I think they should stop making final fantasy games all together... Or they should name them something else because they don't continue off of each other. 8 has nothing to do with 9 and so on.

This may sound a bit snide, but Square-Enix has been doing that since 1988 with FF1 & FF2. If you don't believe me, then pick up either FF Origins or FF1&2: Dawn of Souls and play both of those games THOROUGHLY.

Yeah. Final Fantasy is really more of a universe title than anything. You see similarities in the universes of all of those games. Things like Chocobos, Summons like Ifirit, Valefor, Bahamut, etc. Which is why FFX, and FFX-2 makes sense. FFX-2 is the second in that actual series. If they made an FF7-2 it would take place after FF7. Which is pretty much what the movie is. Consider it FF7-2 : The Movie. That's the Final Fantasy signature Different stories, same universe. Subsequently, I though that was why Final Fantasy : Spirits Within sucked. It had absolutely NOTHING to do with the universe - period. Not related to any game, it didn't show anything that resembled anything having to do with Final Fantasy. They should have named it something else, end of story. Just call it "The Spirits Within" or something.

After 7 and 8 they got old... I know it's more of a universe thing but they are really milking that cash cow and, well, it's my own opinion, but it's just getting boring.

Square Enix is also just the publisher on a couple of their games. The Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles games, the recent Mana games (Sword of Mana and Children of Mana), etc.

We're in an era of "They don't make it like they used to"
To me, FFVII marks the end of the Final Fantasy series for it is the last real Final Fantasy and probably the best (or at least equal to FF6).
PS: Well 9 is okay but what the heck.
