speedracerthemovie.warnerbros.com/don't know much of what to think about it yet, but I just don't think the original show has good enough material for a huge movie. I have no idea where those Wachowski guys could possibly go with it. but I wasn't very fond of the Matrix and it's style... although I admit, the first movie was the only good one, even if I still don't like it's style. It's already not surprising that they've decided to make it so futuristic instead of more like the original. The trailer's very pretty though, and I love how the racing scenes are reminding me of F-zero GX... although it looks nothing like Speed Racer. I'm actually believing the idea that the directors were actually directly inspired by F-zero GX for the look. I'm no fan of the original anyways, I only liked the short lived early 90s cartoon back when I was little. but I am a fan of F-zero! The casting all looks spot on, though. Racer X looks amazing. Strange how Anime seems to be the next "Comics" in Hollywood. So far, I don't think it's using the idea to it's best potential. I sure hope that DBZ movie is a total satire of the show... it just can't possibly make a good movie, if you ask me. So far, Astroboy sounds like it could be the best thing coming out of the idea. Hopefully all this leads to a Ghost in the Shell movie.

Akira Live Action also sounds good, but I'm with you on the whole thing though. It looks very nice, but that wasn't the charm of speed racer for me, it was the charm that it was different from anything else I knew. Speed Racer, together with Akira and Ghost in the Shell opened the anime world for me.

I was surprised at how good this looks. I also heard that either Keanu Reeves or Johnny Depp were at one point possibly going to get the lead role. I've seen many episodes of the show, but I'm not a diehard fan. I have always liked the character designs, at least for Speed, Racer X and Trixie.

Not a big Speed Racer fan, but I love the style of this. Plus, I'm a Lost/Matthew Fox fan, so I'd have to see this regardless.
