This is an updated topic. It includes every version of Ys I ever released. Please vote for your favorite version. ( The old topic.)

I voted Complete on PC. I certainly don't have as much Ys experience as most here, and in fact that one is the only one I've played to completion. I have dabbled in the others through emulation but as with most things I found that nostalgia probably plays a large part in appreciating very old games. I think Complete strikes a nice balance between the spirit of the old 2D games and the fluid gameplay and shinier visuals possible with newer machines.

I can not abandon the TG16 cd version. It was what got me into the series all those years ago. And while I've played a few other versions, they just didn't do it for me like this one did. All the charm is still there for me.
I suppose this could change if they ever get around to a new PC remake in the style of Oath in Felghana, but the TG16 version will remain my Ys Eternal for now.

I'm afraid a version is forgotten:PC-AT version! But it was made too bad! I think no one will vote it. This is PC-AT version YS1 SS version,PCE version and Complete are all my favorite, but i decide vote SS version. Peopel in SS version are very beautiful ,but in PCE version they looks too young(feena looks like a little girl) ,i think.

Why bother, they're both the same crappy version of Ys I.

I have to go with the TG16 version. Even if it's only my partial sentimentality talking. I really do enjoy playing it whenever I can. Ya know, it's hard to explain why I enjoy these games so much.

Well, the PCE version is the classic, but Complete is... well, it is Complete. And incredibly beautiful. So I vote for Ys I Complete.

I choose the Turbo Grafx version it is the first one i played (I got it when it first came out) and had a big impact on me, the soundtrack is still one of the finest Music recordings ever produced. i also love the New Ys Complete games as well.

Ys I Complete WITH the alternate audio and English patches......otherwise it would be the PCE version.

The SMS version for me anyday. It was the very first RPG I ever got & I still have it up to this day.

PCE Version, of course. Godly soundtrack, voice acting, and everything. I second the Ys ETERNAL though. edit: oh yeah. Seldane, can't you add the missing versions on the poll?

Althought I first played the SMS version and love the PCE one, my favourite is Ys Complete, for really being complete and just plain beautifull.

I once commented on Falcom Classics II's Ys II. But true enough, the Saturn Ys games are usually forgotten.
You know, they really do look better than ETERNAL and COMPLETE in pictures, but the animations aren't as smooth, etc.. The game plays ultra fast: you can run into diagonals, and you can even dash (more like crazily rush) by holding down a button. I love its speed btw. Other than that, it's pretty much like most versions. Also I can't speak for the music of the first one, but the second one has many good tunes. In my opinion Ys II tunes go like this: PC Engine > PS2 > Saturn > PC I would like to include the original PC-8801 chip music in somewhere, but it's hard to compare it to these above, so I decided to "ignore" it. But it also rules. Also, the same for Ys II Special.
