Like Ys Book 1&2 for PCE... The level an experience system between Ys 1 & 2 join together...
They should have defiently improved this for Ys Complete... I hate the crap of hitting your max level when your not even half way through the game.

I disagree. The experience system in Ys 1-2 PCE is utterly broken and unbalanced. That is the only version where you can actually be overleveled and be IMMUNE to the bosses/enemies.
One of the many reasons I don't like this particular version of Ys 1/2.

I agree. I missed that in every other Ys II game, where you always start from zero... Though I agree with Seldane that this enabled players to over-level and the game would become easy. (Though that's not just it.) BUT the TCD version also had the "anti-level" system, which everytime you passed a level, every enemy would give you half the experience earned before and even so the required EXP to the next level rises, preventing players to over-level up. In Ys I.II COMPLETE though the required EXP just rises (I remember achieving the MAX Level before even fighting against the first boss! I even killed the 1st boss with 1 hit in Nightmare mode! ) I believe TCD Ys I got easy because the bosses were just...easy! That's all. also Darm gave me some quite big troubleshooting. : ) Anyway, everytime I speak with my brother and friends regarding that, they all say "Man, it should have been just like the Turbo version..." EDIT: Also it makes a lot more sense to keep Adol's Level from Ys I to Ys II, since Ys II happens right after Ys I.

Not to mention you don't have much to do with your money by the second dungeon, which vexed me.

The money "issue" applies to all Ys games. In fact, it applies to pretty much ANY action rpg ever.

Though I think Ys VI is the only exception, because there are those Vitality Seeds which costs a lot and just slightly increases your maximum HP. Thus you need A LOT of those to achieve "full power" and that takes a veeeeeeee[...]eeery long time. (It's not that necessary though.

Seldane: While technically true, most other games don't have money become all but worthless before the halfway point.

There's some game I used to play that gives you 1 exp per enemy regardless of how powerful that particular enemy is. What game was that? Shining Force Neo? I can't remember, but I did like that system.

The .hack series gives you 1 exp per enemy (you need 1000 to level) when you reach a certain a level to prevent people from leveling up in between games. Of course with exp being relative to the field, it's easy to level up low level characters to any level in a matter of minutes.
