Congratulations then, fx. I haven't played the NES version of Ys II yet, but Ys I one was terrible! Almost as bad as the X68000 (DEMPA) version of Ys I. And Ys 2 NES is just as bad as 1.

Nah, Ys 2 is more faithful to the original than Ys 1, it has it's flaws but I don't think it's really that bad for a Famicom game... Anyways, I mostly bought it to add to my Ys collection!

Excellent. Another Ys collector in Sweden. Now I know where to turn for possible future trades!

The Lamia (Ramia) Village theme in the Famicom Ys II is awesome though. I noticed it is a lot faster and I thought it was cool.

I have now recieved the game (a few days ago actually) and it is really in an excellent condition ... I also have an adapter to play Jap games on the NES but unfortunately my NES just keeps resetting so I need to mod it and disable the "lock-out" chip and then I figure it would work!

You are exactly correct. Disable the fourth pin on the right of the chip (but of course, this depends on which angle you're looking from. )

I did the mod and everything now works like a charm only problem is I'm really having a problem listening to the songs in slow-motion 50Hz instead of 60Hz that is. Another interesting thing, maybe noone has played this game before because there were no Saves, but the battery seems to be working? But I guess it might be the battery that is bad aswell :/

I played mine with an import famicom console. I'm always taking the more difficult road so I don't have to worry about modifying anything.

And Ys 2 NES is just as bad as 1. Ys II for the NES is in no way nearly as much of a catastrophy as Ys I. In Ys I they took the liberty of changing so much within the game that it at times doesn't even feel like playing Ys I (what's up with those teleporter statues in the fields, or the two caves, or the doors in Minea which one has to aimlessly walk through just to active the second cave... no, the clues one gets in the cave are really really far fetched, worse so than Myst clues I think). Not that I consider Ys I for the NES being a bad game in itself, and it does have an official tune not to be found anywhere eslse (Mountain Road, is it not called?), but as a version of Ys I... no... I'd look elsewhere. Not only have they shaped up the graphics in Ys II, but it also stays true to the original in most ways possible. The music is not fantastic, but it works. But, yes, as a NES game it isn't really nice to look at. Though, considering when it was released they should have been able to make it so much more pretty... the only place where the graphics seem to shine is in the ice caverns... and the mountains thereafter. fx: I am still impressed with the cute little box the game came in. Those Famicom boxes are so much nicer than the European and USA counterparts. Even the manual looked nicer than most European manuals I've seen. I hate not having growed up in, or at least not at some time in my life been living in Japan. Or, being more realistic, I hate not knowing Japanese so that I can get a little closer to reliving the past when it comes to gaming. I think I'm off taking Japanese classes as soon as the new year will begin. Will you join me, just for the fun of it?

I myself too have discovered the joy of import gaming, and finally have played some of the games, including the Famicom Ys I & II, that I had only dreamed of playing before. I suspect I will be importing the old RPGs I never got to play for many years to come.

I suspect I will be importing the old RPGs I never got to play for many years to come. Actually, that is one of the extremely good things with being completely legal, not just playing roms and roms and yet more roms. If one were to aquire tons of roms, one would never be able to put complete focus on one single game. One would try, and try, and try... all different kind of games... never completing anything. At least I wouldn't. This maybe sounds like jibberish... but, my point is... it would be much more likely for me to play Dracula X - Rhondo Of Blood, for the PC-Engine, to the very end if I spent some time hunting down a complete copy, than if I were to play it in an emulator. And the overall experience would be much more pleasant, due to the box, the manual, the original controller for the PC-Engine, the everything else that comes with the game. Maybe it's all in my head. But I, at least, work this way.

I work the same way, all my import games are the real thing, most of them complete and with boxes.

Hey hey, just wanted to say that I was the seller of that game, amazingly enough! I've just started to hunt old RPGs and thought I would give Ys a try, read about the Eternal remakes and here I am! I don't seem to be able to find them to PC though... Anyway, glad it came into good hands.

But I, at least, work this way. I agree with you 100% I have downloaded tons of roms and emulators and have a massive collection of games but If I ever play them its only in short spurts and its not as enjoyable because I have to use a 360 controller or a keyboard. So I never find myself playing the game all the way through and cant seem to enjoy it as if I had if in my hands and played it on the system it was ment to be played on. As for the roms go it is a good way to be able to get english versions (I should just learn japanese ) and I do have an advantage. When I bought my first laptop last year and then I recently purchased a samsung a650 52" flatscreen and so HDMI ports my laptop screen over nicely to my tv. I purchased a microsoft gameing reciever and now can play with my wireless 360 controller and I have the sound hooked up to my 5.1 so it sounds nice! It is far more enjoyable!
