Back in the day Ys Books I & II for the TG-16 CD was one of my faaaave games. Its only draw back though.....Lilia! Even as a 13 year old I found her to be the most annoying airheaded nitwit! Am I the only one that feels this way, or so strongly about it?

Both Lilia and Feena suffered from airheaded pansy girl syndrome. They improved, but their original incarnations were ditzes. Still, there's a certain charm. Namely, red hair for Lilia and angel wings for Feena dearest! Woohoo, fetishes 'r us.

Agreed on both counts. Of course, that could certainly be attributed to the age of the games themselves. Ah, the simplicity of RPGs of old, right? ^.^
Having recently watched (finally!!) the Ys II OAV, I have to say I kinda like the way they treated the story and cast in that- Lilia is much less the airheaded pansy girl, and actually does some USEFUL stuff now and then aside from conveniently getting kidnapped in order to further the plot. =P

Personally, it's not so much that Lilia is a ditz as Lilia is completely superfluous. She does nothing, and really isn't much of anything. Were she removed, all we'd lose is the first dungeon crawl, if even that.
If Adol were to actually have some emotional attachment to her or something, maybe she'd have a point. At least Feena can claim to be a historical figure.

Depending on how far you want to interpret it, Adol does have emotional ties to Lilia. The problem is that there are so MANY versions of Ys I & II with so many small variations in the plot that it's tough to say how he feels. If you go by Dawn of Ys, then Adol is very much in love with Lilia dearest, but as that game isn't canon at all... who knows. At least she's good eye candy.

Given his history, though, I'd say he's more in love with adventure than with any woman. xD Oh yeah, you bet. Unfortunatelly though =/. Hope it's not JUST for women, lol. xDD!!!! xD Well, anyway, I believe some of you forgot Ys Book I & II's ending... Very beautiful.

I'd say that Adol's got some emotional ties to Lilia... if nothing else, he cares about her. After all, he goes through quite a bit to save her in Mask of the Sun. Whether or not that amounts to anything romantic, we may well never know. The ending of Ys IV implies that perhaps she finally wore him down and they raised a family together. But as has been mentioned, that is not canonical. Unless they want to leave every fan hanging, I'm reasonably certain that the last Ys game chronologically (may that be many years off) will provide some resolution there. Whether it involves one of the big four, someone unexpected from a previous game, Adol's new squeeze of the week or something else is another matter.

Honestly, I expect Adol would have gone through just as much crap to rescue some other random townsgirl as much as he did for Lilia in Mask of the Sun. Quite likely, he would have done it without any sort of kidnapping at all being involved, given what was going on.
One could argue that's her role, I suppose: to show that Adol doesn't play favorites when it comes to rescuing.

Feena, Lilia, Olha ,Elena...... Does he need anymore women? If I where Adol then I would screw the 4.

I'm telling you, the series is going to end with Adol and Dogi hooking up. They're more well-suited as a couple than any of the women and Adol would be! And you can't possibly deny THAT much, at least!! -Tom NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Adol needs to hook up a female so future generations sons can be born to take on the evildoers of the land. Oh ya, and his son better have red hair dammit.

You know, in ancient Athens men took women to make children, and men to love. Maybe that's the way it is in ancient Falcomian society.

Ehh, Lilia's kinda lame. It needs to be Elena or Olha. They know what's up. -Tom Olha? But think of the kids! Think of the freaky, little man-dog kids!

That'd be one heck of a way to go. ; Personally I'd say he would've died in the catfight resulting from all those girls being told they HAD TO SHARE. Imagine the battle royale....

Well, he'd be 63 at the time? So the numbers would be more like this.

That kitty will slay the Colossus!
More on topic, I do like Falcom's recent-ish trend of having older characters reappear; even if Terra needs to take a vow of silence right the fuck now. I wonder how long it will be until such leads to troubles?
