Dawn of Ys was hailed as the best Ys game of all time, so why is it Ys 1 and 2 that have had more re-makes and re-releases then you can count, while Dawn of Ys is left to collect dust and turned their back on by Falcom?
Is there one planned?

Probably not. Besides, it's better with new games instead of remakes, right? And I disagree, I think The dawn of Ys is the most boring Ys game. But that's just my opinion.

The Mask of the Sun was very short... At least, it seems that way...
Is there a reason why there were 2 different titles for Ys IV? Especially if they are different games... Was it one of these "specially to the SNES/PCE console system" release? Cause that way, it kinda forces people to buy the console they don't have JUST to play that game...

Well I think that they made the diffrent games for two reasons;
1. To give people something that's WORHT the money 2. To make more cash
That's the two main reasons I think

Actually I think Mask of the Sun is pretty long for an Ys game. No game in the series hit's the 10 hour mark. I don't know which version is considered the real sequel, but mask of the sun is a great sequel. I thought it was cool revisiting the rejoined esteria.

well, I finished mask of the sun, and just tried dawn of Ys. i think both games are as good, but not as much as Ys 1 and 2. However the view, style... could have been a real fantastic Ys 4 eternal. sadly for me, remakes are coming on PS2. I own PC and Gcube.... who knows maybe they will be converted to PC after ??

Not a chance. They'll never release a console game for PC. That's really uncommon. But it's also good, because that'll reduce the piracy with 500%.

Right about the piracy... But about console to PC, it happens... I am still Playing Grandia 2 on PC (I bought it 2 years ago), game I finished on DC, 3 years ago. And moreover, I tried Ys 6 by copy, I love that game so much that I bought it !

i figure they kept making Ys 1&2 remakes in an attempt to get a bigger crowd for Ys and when there's enough people they would release 3 and 4 etc...i of course think there are enough people to start making Ys 3 4 5 remakes but thats just the Ys fan in me.

Donno, Falcom seems to be obssessed with making like 20 remakes of the first 2 games and doesn't give a darn about the later 3. 'cause I&II ARE Ys. Anything else is just a sequel. *ducks to avoid incoming flames*

'cause I&II ARE Ys. Anything else is just a sequel. *ducks to avoid incoming flames* Why you!! OK, I agree, the other ones aren't really as important as the first two. As for the 20 remakes Soulmancer was talking about, well, that's not true, first, they're not "remakes", they're ports. Why they released the games for so many systems (all systems, basically - at that time) is a mystery to me. Perhaps the game was so successful in Japan so that it was actually worth porting to so many consoles, I am not sure. Edit: OK, there are a couple of remakes, but most of them are ports. Some of the remakes are: Ys X68000, Falcom Classics Ys, Ys Eternal and Ys COMPLETE.

Well I hope Falcom keep remaking Ys 1 & 2 until the end of time. These games deserve not to be forgotten and remaking is a sure way to keep the story alive.

What they need to do with Ys 4 Dawn of Ys is recreate it like they are doing with Oath in Felghana. If it works it works for Falcom. But for some reason they are biding there time. I don't even know if they are going to release Ys Complete 1 and 2 for PS2 here in North America. I would be great if they could bundle it with Oath in Felghana or something like that. Oh well we'll have to wait. for now lets see if OaF comes to North America.
Later, time for work.

YsIV: The Dawn of Ys will never be remade. I assure you. Mask of the Sun, on the other hand....
