But seriously: Ys IV rules. I'm playing The Dawn of Ys right now (second time I got this far) and I'm loving it. I'd almost like to say best Ys ever, but I don't want to, as Falcom didn't develop it themselves, hehehe.

It was my favorite in the series until Ys the Oath in Felghana hit. They probably should have just kept making Ys on the PC Engine forever.

YsF is definitely not my favorite Ys. More like my least favorite Ys... Oh, and I don't like the other PC Engine Ys games, but Ys IV... now that's something!

I'm playing Dawn of Ys now, too, and it's great. I replayed Mask of the Sun first to compare the two and DoY is so much better in execution, there's really no comparison. Just to show how great Hudson can be. But my favorite Ys game is YsF, no doubt, and I also love Ys6. Hope Falcom continues like that.

I love this game also ....the best part of the game is chasing the brat kid Timmie all over the place. And the music is fantastic. And I HIGHLY disagree about the other Ys games on the Turbo/PCEngine. Ys Book I and II is the best game ever (IMO).

You ... you like Ys III for PC Engine?

Aha, and you like them all equally, so you think Ys I-II and IV are "decent" too?

I love all the Ys for Turbo. Ys 3, it's got it's flaws, but, I've played that game so many times, I do really enjoy it. Not as much as 1, 2, or 4, but, I still think it's great despite it's flaws.

Ys III for the PCengine has some of the worst parallax scrolling ever but the music is so damn good it balances the game to become enjoyable. I'd still say Ys Oath in Felghana is the best Ys game but if Ys Book I and II was made in the fashion of Felghana then a new king would be crowned.

The only thing that bugs me about the PCE/Turbo Ys III is the bad translation. Well, they just made some of those names up. That's what I mean. Otherwise I love it. If you ask me, Ys wouldn't be the series it is today without those PC Engine/Turbo versions.

If you ask me, Ys wouldn't be the series it is today without those PC Engine/Turbo versions. I agree, Ys would not be nearly as big as it has become without the help of the PCEngine.

I agree, and I like Ys3 as well. It's just not as good as the others (in fact, Ilike it better than Mask of the Sun). The translation is not very good, with all the name changes, but it's got some of the funniest voice overs ever.

Mask of the Sun is my least favorite Ys. As for Ys 3, didn't the Genesis version have the exact same names used as the Turbo version? So they must've come from somewhere?
Anyways, I do have a different version of Wanderers for Turbo, where I use the music from Felghana, & even mixed in the voice acting in the song where the Galbalan is talking to Chester & Adol on top of the tower. I took out the intro music with "Think back to your worst nightmare", & replaced it with the more dramatic version of.....sheesh, you'd think I'd know the names of the songs by now. It's the dramatic version of the song that plays at the begining of Felghana(you know, with the piano, which I use for the pillar scene, where it explains the story of Ys 3). Eventually, I'm going to redo the intro story, with my own voice, imitating Alan Openheimer(narrator of Ys 1 & 2), & call Galbalan, "a Galbalan named Demanicus". And plus, I'll say "the people of Felghana" instead of Kenai(since I don't recall them saying Kenai in the rest of the game).

Ys IV was good, though I've only played the SNES through evil means. *clears throat* I'm worshipping that game for its story, reintroducing the bumping system and the introduction of poison. Yeah, the poison was the best thing about the game. Screw the unique boss battles and unpainful level grinding not to mention a return of Lilia and some of the things from the other Ys games, the ability to get poisoned is truly beautiful and makes carrying maximum numbers of antidotes a good necessity. Seriously, I'm going to kiss the person who came up with the idea of poison in a Ys game. And at least Adol spoke in the SNES! Yeah, no more silent protagonist in Ys IV. (Actually, I don't really mind if Adol speaks or not, unlike some magazines...) Theme of Adol '93 rocks.

As I recall, he also speaks sometimes in Ys III. At least in the SNES Version.
