I bring you news! Release date: March 30, 2006. Price: 6,090 Yen (~$53) System: PS2 (Japan only) Media: DVD-5 Graphics: 3D (polygon-based) If you have finished Ys III and Ys IV, and these save files are still on your memory card - you will get some benefits in Ys V. Namely: - You can obtain the equipment from the previous games (which has exclusive features).

That is good news about the save files. I still have mine, it sounds like a neat idea. I was wondering about the music too. Will it have a more orchestral feel like the original or will it be changed?

I say they should keep the orchestral feel.
Because when I first played the super famicom version, I actually enjoyed the soundtrack, even though it may seem out-of-place compared to the other Ys games.
If anybody ever gets the Ys V Orchestral CD, trust me, you're in for a treat.

Hey you are correct the Ys V Orchestra version is indeed awesome! It has been a while since I listened to the Ys V soundtrack, or the Orchestra Version for that matter. I'm going to go listen now. The good thing so far is they haven't pushed back the release date.

I'd personally like to hear the music in the rock stylings of the other games, but either way, I'll be happy.

I also hope they'll keep the orchestrated soundtrack. I find the music in YsI-IV boring compared to the soundtrack in YsV. The soundtrack in YsV sure is my favorite (of any game).
Note: I really dislike Ryo Yonemitsu along with the music in all the PC Engine games (with some exeption of Ys IV).

March, what a wondeful month this year! Ys V PS2 ED VI SC Tales of Phantasia Advance (in English!) FF XII (have to play it, I'm a FF completist)
I'm sure I'm missing much more, but I am really looking forward to these games.

GRANDIA THREE! In English!! Note: I will play neither of those games in march (if ever). But I'll play Ys V in >>>> April <<<<. Why? Well, it's pretty obvious if you think about it.

Well I didn't know they were actually going to bring Grandia III over in English, that is cool. But how many RPGs can one handle anyway? I've got over a dozen I'm dying to play right now. The more I juggle them, I will never finish one, so I'm taking it one at a time. Yeah I guess I won't be playing Ys V PS2 in March, but that's when it hits, so.....

i think YS5(SNES) is too easy(including EXPERT),and the magics are too many but not so useful.i hope Taito can make PS2 version more difficult.
The 3D YS5 looks very beautiful! Hope Taito won't let me disappoionted.

Don't get me wrong, the SNES version is easy after the first time you beat it.
Let's just hope Taito does a better job.
(If anyone is tired of hearing me say this too many times, my apologies).

That is cool, I tried to get the Ys III Music box on ebay recently that played the Redmont theme, but I was horribly outbid....
