I finally got this game yesterday (10/22/2003) thanks to Zagharanof, I really appreciate your help!
Well, anyway. The game is simply amazing. Any Ys fan (or just any RPG fan) should love this game. It may be 3D, but it sorta have that "overhead view". Really, very nice. The music does not really has that "Ys feeling" at first, but after a while, you will notice how much it sound like Ys music (Especially like YsIV). Gameplay is definately like YsV. You fight the same way, you can jump. Heck, the game itself looks like YsV. Only nicer. It is one of those games that you really can't let go. I played for so very long yesterday. I did not even want to look at some good TV programs because of this game. And it is really just like any Ys game a bit into the game. And it is really amazing. Something that dissapointed me, though. Is that you don't really get a lot of equipment. I was hoping to see something like in YsVI or YsV. But you only get four different swords (three that you can keep. The first one breaks). Six different armors and six different shields. But instead of getting swords, you can forge them in exchange for pearls that you sometime get from the monsters. It is cheap at first, but it gets really expensive. All the characters in the game has its own portrait, which is good. And Falcom is generous with the english. All the most important things in the meny are in english. Like equip, status, yes, no, etc. Aslo, all the areas has english names (Yay!), so now you can finally know what area you are at. I have also found the classic power ring, which is good. I aslo got something that I suspect might be the wings, but I haven't been able to use them yet. Well, in overall, this game is great, and any sane person would love it. It is easy to get it to run in Windows XP (Professional) it will probably work in Home too.... But I don't know. 98/ME/2k, though, I don't think it will work. Well, in XP, just change EVERYTHING to japanese, keyboard style, regional, language, location, then restart, and it should run perfectly. I forgot to say that the music is great. It may sound bad in the samples you can download from Falcom's page. But it really is great quality. If you have seen the trailer, the music that is playing there, is the boss music.
Well, all I can say: Get this game now!
