Well you can call me crazy and paranoid if you want, but... I sent a curtious letter to the Ys product manager of Konami Digital Entertainment - America yesterday concerning these new "improved" Ys VI features. I mostly expressed my concerns about the music - wether they scrapped the old music and made their own music that's unrelated to the originals, suggested including a option to play the game with the original music, made sure they new a lot of Ys's mojo comes from the music of Falcom's Sound Team JDK (mentioned the 30+ soundtracks that have been released). I also asked if they do another press release before the game comes out, that they be a little more specific about the new music. It seems all of us have come to different conclusions about it, which means the reports are pretty vague I guess. Yeah, it's probably futile, but I felt like I had to do something. There's probably only a 10% chance it will be read, let alone considered. But, it only cost me a stamp, so it was worth it IMO

I just wrote them a letter too, as follows:
Mr. Franklin, I'll be brief, so I hope you'll respect how much it means to me that you read this and add it to your pile. I'm pretty concerned about the graphical and musical changes to the game Ys VI : Ark of Naphishtim that your company is porting to the PS2 and PSP. It's a real classic, even if it was only released last year. My friends and I who imported it from Japan love the character sprites as they are, and we love the music. It would be really hard for us to purchase the game with 3D rendered characters and new music, even as excited as we are that you aquired the rights to the game. Please pass it along that we'd like your company to take the fans into consideration. This is a really important game to us. Thanks a lot for your time and your possible influence, as late as it is; we'd be so happy to see the original characters and hear the original music. It was a hit wasn't it? Why change it? Please don't. Curtis Bathurst Web Desgner, SPC, Time Inc.
