What? "Too obscure or Japanese to him is considered crap."How can a game be too japanese? Play a game like Taiko no tatsujin, Vib ribbon or even those anime style games and you'll know what I mean. Some games from Japan are mainly catered for their native audience.

What? "Too obscure or Japanese to him is considered crap."How can a game be too japanese? Most of the games ( considering the old age Nes ) where made in Japan - that is, if I'm not misstaking, which I'm not Or? I agree with Adol, I hate HipHop/Rap/RnB music but I like some games EXCEPT NFSU because, you cannot destory others cars. They WON'T die ( ahum Destruction Derby 2 ) I hate rap & RnB as well, but love hip hop, which you don't even know what hip hop is, trust me on that, so you don't know if you hate it or not. I have friends that only heard the garbage they play on the radio, & hated anything with a beat, then heard the stuff I listen to, & we're very surprised about the difference between hip hop & rap. It can be a very fine line, & a million miles away. BTW, I'm not saying this in a mean way, I just want to inform, & get sick of hearing the hate towards things people haven't even experienced yet. If you have heard hip hop(ie: not Puff Daddy, DMX, Ja Rule, Emenem, Game, Chingy, the list goes on & on, pretty much covering EVERYTHING on the so called hip hop radio stations) then forgive me, just tell me you've listened to A Book Of Human Language were disugsted with how intelligent the album is compared to the so called hip hop on the radio, then nevermind. I don't expext people to like every type of music, it's "almost" impossible. I say almost, since as I've gotten older, music I used to hate, I now dig, like Ska & Classical(though, classical was an easier type of music to get into, being into making music). Sorry for being off topic, just wanted to clear things up. Still, even though I'm not getting the PSP right away, I might get Ys right away anyways.

I have my doubts... when rpgamers says "TBA" to me... that's a sign of "ha... better luck on the next game..." So for Konami to be able to bring Ys6 here... it's a 2 thumbs up for them! TBA means it IS coming out... And yes it is - at least here it is.

TBA means it IS coming out... No, is just another expression for "we have no idea what this is". And yes it is - at least here it is. No it is not. It's not even released in Japan! The PS2 version is released here, but certainly not the PSP one.

I think what was meant is too inherently Japanese in nature. Ie. too steeped in Japanese culture for one's tastes, or too laden with the usual bevy of anime cliches (like VM Japan, for instance). The blade cuts two ways, though. Denigrating anything that's not Japanese is no less asinine and closed-minded. One thing one learns after close to two decades of anime-watching... being a foreign language doesn't make something good. But there have always been games that are inherently way to Japanese to do well here. That's just how it goes, and as time goes on we do actually get more of them coming out here. Hell I never would have expected Shin Megami Tensei III to get a US release though I am glad it did. Good point ot hte non-Japan bashing btw. I think thsat is why so many people hate the Xbox. The lack of Japanese games for the machine has hurt it, but sadly not nearly as much as I thought it would have. Save for a select few titles I just don't think that Japanese games have been as innovative or entertaining this generation as they have in generations past. I look at the Japanese gaming market and that it is more of the same for the most part. Most Japanese RPGs bore me now, and coming from me that is a huge thing. I watched my roommate play through Tales of Symphonia and I couldn't understand what all the hubbub was about. It was basically the sme damn game I have been playing since I was 13. I mean FFX was great and all but it didn't have the impact that VII did, and while the storyline of Xenosaga has me rivited the gameplay makes me want to rip out my eyeballs sometimes. SMT3 was the first JRPG which didn't bore me to tears in quite some time. Then again maybe I've just been spoiled by the freedom and sopistication in storytelling offered by the latest generation of western RPGs. Ever since Fallout the story never fell by the wayside and the options you were given just made the experience richer. Wouldn't it be great to see an FF game where you could affect the story like you can in KOTOR? I sure as hell think so. Which is not to say I don't love me some old school from time to time, I loved Ys VI to death. -Bishop
