I'm curious as to what peoples favorite dungeons are from Ys VI. I was thinking about this, and I think I've come to realize this might have been one of the games weaknesses.
Personally I think the two best areas in the game that really made me feel like I was playing an Ys game were Mt.Grana-Vallis and Limewater Cave. Limewater Cave is probably my favorite, though I know some people didn't like that one. It reminded me a lot of the cave dungeons in the other Ys games - it was very big, and it was easy to get lost in (none of the other dungeons in this game were like this). I guess I was kinda disappointed in the last dungeon (Ruined City Kishgal). It was quite small and not as grand as some of the other final/near-final dungeons in the Ys series.
Konami's "Alma's Trials" are probably my least favorite. I don't think they were very well thought out and didn't seem to flow real well. Oh, and they kept using that same bridge I don't know how many times! I'm sure they could have done a better job with it.
What do you think?

wow i'm the opposite. definitely the ruinned city. i really disliked limewater cave due to the maze and confusing passageways...and of course the dark. >_> but i guess that's what makes a game challenging...the easy straightforwardness of a dungeon usually is more fun to me that's why i chose kishgal.

For me it was "The Ruined City Kishgal." Maybe it was a little crammed at times, but with that killer music, I thought it was well suited for a final dungeon area. Besides the boss music, the "Kishgal" music was my favorite in Ys VI.

I liked the Limewater cave. I loved the visuals and music for it. no doubt it could be difficult to get through but i loved the style and look of it. the dark misty appearnce was some of the best graphics in the game. the little evil Adols rocked to chris edit: i typed Bit-ch to get through and it stated pregent dog??

Limewater Cave. Absolutely. I loved that dungeon. The music was fantastic too. In fact, it might be one of the most entertaining dungeons I have ever seen.

I third the motion for limewater cave. A Ys game has to have a dark dungeon. I loved the mines from Ys I and II and this cave was a bit reminiscent of them. I loved how all the different color blobs were scattered around but I didnt like getting cursed or poisened from them. I'm sure Oath is gonna have enjoyable Tigre Mines and Demonicus cave.

My favorite place are tose hexagonal gardens with the winged statue, where the last sword is found. (Haven't got a clue what it was called ) The most wonderfull place in the game for me too bad it is so small I also liked the very end of the woods. Where you can see the view on the ocean and an the black city. Very nice.

Wow... I know this post is abit old however I was wondering what people thought of the ruins of amnesia? It was by far my favorite dungeon, I liked the dash jump challenge. lol On the other hand, I couldn't stand the limewater caves... They're far too big compared to the other dungeons and to make matters worse, you got to go back 2 times if you want the cool accessories... Plus they're full of the slimes I so hate. lol

I dreaded the Limewater cave. Awesome graphics and a horrific boss, but I HATE that place, the Ruined City Kishgal remains my favorite. I just love the way it's designed, running up and down the stairs, slicing and dicing the enemies, with that super cool music. For me, the Ruins of Amnesia were downright creepy, with those humongous statues holding the swords and everything. My second favorite area would have to be the Grana-Vallis Mountains.

the mountain, plus it had a cool tune and an awesome boss to fight.

I kinda Liked the quatera woods and the Ruined City because of it's music and it isn't as dark and slimy as the Limewater Cave

Limewater cave was fun, if not frustrating at times- much in the very same way I found the Mines from Ys I to be.
The Ruins of Amnesia were the most visually impressive area and was where I spent the most time, but the level of frustration I had there- trying to get some items with some rather annoying jumps soured me on it.
Grana Vallis was also fun, but never stuck out in my mind that much.
Kishgal was pretty fun, had some hard boss battles, but never challenged me in the way that the cave and ruins did.
Alma's trials were annoying with the jumps and a few other things, but the music arrangement there was among the best in the game. The Romun ships were also enjoyable for the music, though protecting the ladies could get annoying.
I think I'll have to go with... none of the above, settling on the Ark itself as my favorite area. My favorite boss battles in the game, coupled with great visual effects and great music makes it the number one spot, despite how very short it is.

I don't remember everything about the game as it's been a while, but I'll go with Ruins of Amnesia. It didn't have the best design, but I remember it to be one of the better ones, and it had my favorite music in the whole game. Grana-Vallis was also very good... I liked how it looked and it also had great design (and I also remember really loving it's music at first, but found it got old quickly). Kishgal was cool looking and everything but I remember feeling a bit disappointed with it (must have been expecting something else or something more from it) and the cyber look felt a little out of place with the rest of the game. I found it's music great at first, but got annoyed of it by the time I finished the area. The whole stage reminded me of a cybernetic stage out of the Mega Man X series. Limewater Cave was just plain daunting I was so relieved when I reached the end of it. Kinda reminded me of the first time I went through Rastin Mine, actually.

I'm all about escaping from the Romun Ships, myself. Having to guard two people, and dealing with foes who were fairly dangerous if you just tried to hack and slash your way through them.
I would have liked the Ruins of Amnesia if it didn't have so much of the "you fall and backtrack" thing going on. That gets old quick. So did the things that tossed buzzsaws at you; especially with them hanging around damage zones.
Grana-Valis needed some more variety. Or broken up into smaller dungeons akin to the mines in YsIII.
Quatera Woods were fun the first few times, but too much back and forth there.
Canaan Plains needed more types of enemies, otherwise the joy of buzzing through a field and depopulating it was quite there.
The Limewater cave needed to be less dark.
Kishigal was fun, loved the enemy count. But it needed more cool stuff and to be less of a straight go.
I didn't mind the Trials, but they don't stick out too much. Unique bosses/goodies would have been nice.

While I liked Napishtim a lot... none of the dungeons really did it for me. Frustrating as it was to clear due to all the "fall and backtrack" stuff Captain mentioned, I think my favorite was probably the Ruins of Amnesia. Grana-Vallis and the Canaan Plains were pretty much forgettable, Quatera was just another place to run back and forth through, and Limewater was pitch-dark and ANNOYING. >_< I would have loved Kishgal since the design was neat, but the music made me want to put my controller through the television. When I finally got around to finishing the game recently, I turned the BGM volume off and flicked on some other Ys music just so I could stand to clear the dungeon.
