I think if there were only a few game soundtracks that could go down in history as being the best of all time, that one would definitely be there. I never get tired of that one.
Heck, I never get tired of any Ys OST.

Music?

My opinion on game music is a little different.
I think music should be appropriate to the game and the situation to the game. If there urgency, it should sound urgent. If its a silly situation, the music should sound silly. Or if its triumphant, the the music should sound majestic.
I think AoN did a good job of conveying the general "feeling" of the game at the time and it reminded me a lot of playing Ys I and II on my duo with a good mix of PCM and Redbook audio.
I need to download the tracks and listen to them because I don't know the names of them. But the memorable ones for me are:
1) The music from the woods at the beginning. Great song, but it was wearing on my nerves towards the end. The majority of this I think was due to the back and forth travelling in the game - I just got tired of hearing the same song over and over. 2) The music from the Stilwater cave I thought was great as well. 3) Definately the Ruins of Amnesia. One of, if not the best song in the game IMO. 4) The music in the Ark was good (all of it) 5) All of the music from the Trials of Alma
I think a good measure of the ones I really liked are the ones that jump out at me, and those 4 are pretty much it.
And the theme/intro was great I thought.
