Also, one has to ponder Alma's role in the Eldeen society, as well. And possibly the Rehda, who could be just as bio-engineered as the Galbadans were (given I think humanity and maybe roos have been the only sentient races up til this point).

But one person from the Eldeen race try to commit genocide on the human race by using Galbalan. I wonder if Eldeel have something to do with this. I can't remember much from Mask of the Sun but did Eldeel have something against humans before being "possessed" by the Mask? I think Falcom will continue with the story of the winged race since time and again, their presence in history shows up. (If anyone here watches Stargate SG-1 and/or Atlantis, they sort of reminds me of the Ancients with experiments, being mysterious and powerful, and stuff. :P) And I think on the first page of the Ys VI manual, Napishtim was identified as being the first chapter in some winged people thing.

As I recall in Mask of the Sun, which I may not recall properly at all, wasn't it mentioned that the Eldeen were using humanity as cattle, toward the end of things?
Given what a pain people are, and how much more meat one gets off of herd animals, one would expect that would bespeak quite the food crisis.
Alternately, it could just be a symbol of how degenerate the Pre-Ys civilization had become, but that strikes me as a bit hard to believe; cannibalism (as in eating things that can talk back to you intelligently) is a rather difficult trend to spread in most societies. Unless we consider that perhaps it was only a small section of degenerate noblitiy doing this?

Ah, Ys IV. My memories of the translated SNES version are mercifully vague. Hopefully Deuce's new re-edited translation will help us all out.

The implication (made even stronger in Origin) is that the Goddesses are indeed of the same winged race as Ernst and Eldeel. I thought Ernst Just tapped the power of the Black emelas Sword and the Ark to become an Eldeen. Im pretty sure Ernst is a Human.

Ryle has the right of it, I believe. The whole point of mistake Ernst's ancestors made was that they were trying to control the Ark without being proper Eldeen.

The Emelas colored slabs clears some things up. But i wonder if in the Japanese version they give more details.

I'd seriously like to know what all of those Emelas slabs say. I can't get all of them because one of them (can't remember which) requires that you successfully execute that @#$%^%)@*! rassafraggin' dash-jump which I absolutely cannot do on any given day of the week.

That's good to hear. I will play this game again but on the hardest setting.

Aw, c'mon Lumineux, it's not that hard. You just need to master the dash attack. Use the Force.

T_T But I can't! I seriously r teh SUCK at that stupid dash-jump.
Of course, I'm also one of those nutcases who plays Ys better using a keyboard rather than a controller...

Or not, seeing as you can't do a dash jump. =F
Which one is giving you the trouble? I don't recall any of them taking a dash jump. One does take a rapier dash, but that's a whole different animal.

Let's note that the only version of Ark I own is the PS2 port. ^^; Though I'm thinking about rectifying that and snagging the PC version just... uh... to give Falcom more of my hard-earned cash, I suppose?
I don't recall offhand which color tabula it was; it's been a couple years since I played that one. I think it mighta been in the Ruins of Amnesia? o.O? Been too long to be sure, so that's likely incorrect.

The one in the ruins of Amensia requires the rapier dash. A dash jump would make one collide with an invisible overhang and fall into doom and embarassment.
The one in the Cave leading to the spot where the ship docked does have a nasty jump, but it can be done without the dash jump being involved.

Yeah. I had started on it and got a massive chunk done, and... it just dwindled off of my priority list as I was in school at the time and got hit by the worst set of finals ever. @.@ I toy with it now and then, but I've never really picked it back up again. A lot of the vocabulary in it is way over my head, though, so it makes it really hard too. XD; Guh, wasn't this something that started at either the GameFAQs (Ys VI) or Gamingforce (Ys VI thread) forums~? Like some folks expressed interested in translating them? I think SOMEONE uploaded a small chunk of the translation back then. I'm not sure I have that file anymore though. :/ I wonder if I still have the scans of those pages from the Complete Works~ (I also wonder how long it'll take to melt the glue from the binding? XD) If I do, I can throw them up in my random gallery and lure potential translators to them. Mwahaha.

What? The melting of the glue? XD
I was actually demented enough to separate the pages of my Kingdom Hearts II Ultimania by putting t in the microwave for many minutes. (I have another copy of the book.) Of course, this was AFTER I scanned everything in the first place. 9_9
Erm, anyway. Yeah. I'll check my laptop some time and see if they're still on it. Otherwise, I guess I can do another round of Ys bible abuse. Unless, of course, a link to that Shift-JIS transcription is provided. :P
