Maybe we should write Falcom... ok, they probably don't need any help to make good games and it probably wouldn't get to the right ears but we can dream, right? I'm too busy dreaming that they'll actually release something in English.

Maybe we should first start with making official Falcom licenced English patches and a webshop where you can buy Falcom games, with other payment options than just a credit/debit card

I doubt there will be a "final" Ys game. Falcom will just stop producing the series when it stops selling (which it will - very soon, unless they change the concept).
Five Dragons is not the only thing mentioned on the Ys Eternal box / intro, but so are Adol's diaries - supposedly there are over a hundred of them. Each diary represents an adventure. Also mentioned is that Adol keeps adventuring until he dies, so it is pretty unlikely that he settles down with someone. And why would he?

Ha ha, you just re-wrote something that I've posted several times on this board. So one game per year isn't enough to kill a concept?

BTW, can someone get that video and upload it somewhere that I can get to it? 4gamer (and all known game-related sites) are filtered out here at work. :/ www.youtube.com/watch?v=lcorBVHpP3c

Great video, and after hearing more of Scars of the Divine Wing, I know it will be one of my favorite pieces of music.

Also mentioned is that Adol keeps adventuring until he dies, so it is pretty unlikely that he settles down with someone. And why would he? The Big Book has a timeline section. I don't recall the date offhand but it states that he does get married eventually. Naturally, it doesn't say to whom.

This is the worst first boss ever. The music, the graphics, sound, gameplay. TERRIBLE!
Come on Seldane. You know you hate it.

I personally can't wait for Adol's adventures at the North Pole, fighting the evil Saint Nick!

I would have liked it if we could at least go to Minea but it doesnt seem like thier will be any towns in the game. If you notice at the begining of that Vid it shows the Status screen. Thiers no Gold so i guess everything will be found. Kinda dissapointing

Two movie observations. That was easy mode so we can rest assured that it won't be that simple to beat the first boss (no-one here's really going to go through the game on Easy first, right? Right?). Regarding the strange absence of gold, they seem to have come up with an alternative. I'm assuming there will be still be some Minea/Z-however you spell it portion to the game, seeing how there's that shot of Hugo under the Roda Tree with the tower in the background.

I like the retro-style graphics Falcom's been using in the more recent Ys games. It's pretty much my ideal art style. The only thing I dislike is the lack of dynamic shadows... but that's only because circle-shadows are a pet peeve of mine. On the whole, though, I find it far more pleasing to the eye than the ultra-realistic art style people typically seem drawn to. I don't play games for realism, I play them for fantasy... and Falcom's art style is pretty much perfect for that. I'm okay with the graphics Falcom's been using, but I don't understand what "retro style" means. These graphics were pretty nice (for a Japanese game, anyway) back in 2003, now they're just unmodern. The graphics doesn't look like old 2d games or anything at all to me, if that's what you mean by "retro style." Something that disappoints me is that they, once again, decided to use really undetailed, low res textures (the tiled grass in Ys VI ruled). The main problem with the graphics in these games (and YsO in particular, it seems) is that the enviroments are too empty. Just open areas with nothing in them. This is pretty common for huge RPGs like Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest where they make hundreds of maps with absolutely no effort/detail put into them, just to stretch out the playtime/mindless walking. The Ys series, however, contains very few (and very small) areas. At least they could put some efforts into those small maps. Being negative again, sorry, but really - I wonder how much time they put into this game. The engine appears to be unchanged, so no work there. The graphics? Same as the previous games. Gameplay? Probably basically identical to YsVI/YsF. Music? Probably plenty of reused music. Sound effects? Same ones they made in 1993 - no doubt. Level design? From the looks of it - not much. Probably reused areas here as well. Character designs? Not much thought put into those characters - they all look alike. Story? It seems like the game contains a pretty interesting story, that probably took most of their time.

I know you will end up loving this game. The only thing that upset me about the video is that it wasn't me playing.

Of course I will love it, but I'm still a bit disappointed. I wish they'd make something like Ys V again. Now THAT was a high quality game. Truly amazing.

Not really. Ys V is good enough as it is (it needs to be 2d). The PS2 remake of Ys V gave me nightmares.
