Yeah, forgot about the bosses.
They are absolutely amazing. Even though I've only seen a couple of the end of zone bosses, they are both challenging but highly enjoyable encounters. Even if I wasn't playing for anything else, I'm absolutely sure I'd play through the entire game just to see what the next bosses were like.

Oh yes, the bosses in YsO are awesome. They were in YsF too, but I like these better. The worm boss is the best boss ever, I think.
Oh and I really like the music actually. I was wrong before, the samples didn't do the soundtrack justice. Sure, there's many bad songs, but there are good ones too. I like this soundtrack better than the YsF soundtrack, no doubt (I'm very sick of the Ys 3 music).

Yeah, the bosses are wild!
A couple more points of view I wanted to post though...
Firstly, I didn't like the art work of the characters in this one. The all look like they've been drawn by a computer, whereas in Napishtim and Felghana they look nicer - difficult to explain but if anyone else feels what I'm talking about, help me out.
Also, how easy is this game?! There was a part just before that worm boss that drops all those exploding poison balls where I was able to go up several levels very quickly, clocking up tens of thousands of SP in the process! Should have just started playing it on hard mode.
I also LOVE the music for the section that I'm talking about - no violin, no rock guitars - just nice, kind of peaceful tune played by a wind instrument (or the computer emulated version of one) - absolutely love it. This is the way RPG music should be all the time.

id1948: I agree with everything. Especially the music part. The water area music is awesome, and the character illustrations are ugly.

Yes, you can. It happens on occasion in the Water Prison, but it only drains 1 HP every... two seconds or so.

Hehe, yeah. The poisoning is pretty lame. It should've been like in Ys VI - dangerous.

It builds up nastily, though, particularly if you're not careful when fighting the caterpillar/worm boss.
I don't like the characters that much - it's the not the illustrations per se, because they're amazing. It's the haircuts. They all suck. I'm glad most Ys games are not during this time period ^_^
As for Napishtim vs Oath - I really prefer Oath. I think I'm probably the only person here who didn't like the Ys III music, but Oath's music was incredible, whereas Napishtim seemed uninspired. Oath was more polished and fluid - perhaps that's because I played it before Napishtim.
Anyway, I feel as though O isn't to OiF what Oif was (IMO) to N, but it's still an excellent game by all accounts.
Seldane: Yeh, I agree. The OiF bosses were dramatic, but the O bosses seem as though they were made as incredible set-pieces.

I got a question! How Hard is this game? Are the enemies dumb or smart? Is it relatively easy to avoid hits or is it very hard or almost impossible? I hope Hard mode is challeging. At least as challeging as Ys VI's. One aspect I love from most Ys games is the fact they are quite difficult Action RPGs. And probably you can unlock a Nightmare mode after you beat the game...well, I hope. For those who already got the game, I envy you. Hope you're having fun.

The game's easy (on normal mode), but the bosses are pretty challenging (as in YsF). There's basically no "AI" in this game, pick any NES game - the enemies in it are as "intelligent" as the ones in this one.

I realize that I'll most likely be playing it soon, but where do you start the game? What's the first dungeon you play? From the video, there's a water dungeon, a fiery dungeon and Darm Tower.

Though I won't wait not even a second when I get YsO. T.T It takes some time >.< Maybe this game have some eastern eggs? Kinda like Ys I.II COMPLETE had? (Adol somewhere in the game would rule. ) So try to search hard! (xD) Well, I would...u_u

It starts on the first floor of Darm Tower, then you just advance through the floors. That's all there's to it. You're never outside of it. In the intro, you're next to the Roda tree, but you don't get to play by yourself at this time.

Maybe this game is a filler title, while they work on a Ys 7

And what is with the French on the intro video?!?!?!
My wife speaks french and I got her to listen to it - she laughed all the way through! She swears that it's just a Japanese lady reading the lines. Only a few words are pronounced properly!
Very strange.

Lol it probably is. Reminds me of the terrible pronunciation on White Lie in Black from Xanadu Next.

Yeah, some of the monsters fancied themselves as interior designers I think and kept changing their minds on what they wanted to fill the tower with.

And what is with the French on the intro video?!?!?! My wife speaks french and I got her to listen to it - she laughed all the way through! She swears that it's just a Japanese lady reading the lines. Only a few words are pronounced properly! Very strange. As I wrote in another topic, here's what's said in French (corrected gramatically, so it doesn't perfectly stick): Jadis, il y avait un grand pays légendaire qu'on appelait Ys Sur l'intervention des déesses jumelles et des Six Saints, ce grand pays prospérait. And why, well that's because Ys is in France. And yes, very badly pronounced, many mistakes etc..I had a few friends helping me to understand (I'm french, so are they, but we managed to understand words that the others didn't etc)
