Man, I love the JDK Specials. Have you heard the Dawn of Ys one?

And I still don't quite understand the appeal of the JDK Special CDs. Why listen to something in worse synth than the OST? Dood! That's not synth! That's X68000 chip music! The b-e-s-t sound in the universe! JDK Special = perfection.

The JDK Special appeal boggles me just a little bit too. But hey, to each their own. I will admit that the Felghana Super Arrange had a few good arrangements on it. Frozen in Time and A Prayer for Kindness were both really great symphonic style pieces, but uh... I was a bit annoyed at Falcom for being so lazy as to toss us two incredibly short tracks that were already floating around in one form or another thanks to the demo videos, along with some rather bland sounding vocal tracks and multiple (forgettable) arrangements of the same track. Thankfully the OST made up for it all. And they did finally cobble that cool choir + guitar intro from the demo version of Valestein Castle into the FULL song on the Falcom 2007 Live CD, so that made me happy. XD In the case of Origin's Super Arrange... it is wonderful; more than I'd been hoping for. I'm happy. The track selection was great, the arrangements are all well done even if not all of them are my favorite musical styling (sorry, I just can't get around jazz or saxophone music)... It's good stuff!!

Middle set of tracks are my favorite. The first two and the last two, funny enough, aren't doing it for me.
Particularly, the vocal track is a snore.
Oh, and the JDK Special is for old people that are used to music sounding like crap. Such as myself. If I got my dose of Sorcerian through a cruddy PC Speaker I can take almost anything.

YSY is a nice vocal song, although I have it already on the Falcom Live 2007 album. but maybe I like it a lot more since I was at the Falcom Live 2007 concert

As soon as I got the CD, I went straight to Silent Desert first, and I've been listening to this every day since I got it. My favorites on the CD are Silent Desert, Scarlet Tempest, Scars of the Divine Wing, My Lord, Our Brave and Over Drive. The whole thing rules, but I have to hear those every day. I made a gameplay video of Silent Desert with the SAV music: youtube.com/watch?v=mklJ629kq9I

HAHA, poor Hugo biffed it by the pillar on the way down from that platform in the first area! XD (I can't even tell you how often that happened to me....) Nice vid, GMF. And excellent taste in favorite tracks, hehe. Personally, I have GOT to learn how to get some of these converted to ogg and get them coded into the game so they loop properly, as opposed to just playing it on a media player in the background while I game. Because I really, REALLY gotta have the SAV rendition of Overdrive in there. It blows away every other version of that song in existence.

and Superlocke bursts back onto the Ys scene just in time lol hmm can anyone comment on the quality of the soundtrack before I consider buying this? edit: haha nevermind, I should have read the topic first. and nice video GMF! It's making me want it even more lol edit2: Hm, that also reminds me - did they make a SAV for YsVI? I wouldn't mind hearing an arrange of release of the far west ocean

Thanks for watching the video. I wanted to do one like that for every track just for the heck of it, so at least someone who didn't have it would be able to listen to it and check out the game at the same time.

It's worth the price of admission just for Silent Desert and Overdrive. Seriously. XD But wyrd's right-- the SAV of Genesis Beyond the Beginning is very different. It's like... er... well, a slow piano arrangement. Very pretty nonetheless, but not one I listen to often. The original was so great on its own anyway. However--!! I say again: Silent Desert. Overdrive. They are bliss.

Scarlet Tempest is also fabulous, because it features violin. ^__^ Makes me a happy girl! Scars of the Divine Wing is awesome, but not so much a departure off the original that it stood out to me. I still love it though. Overdrive mainly got mention from me because I've always thought the melody had potential, and every previous arrangement was just very thin and pathetic. I'm just very happy Falcom finally gave it the arrangement it deserved. Now if they could go back to Ys VI and do that for Ernst, then I'd be sitting pretty on cloud nine....

I need more violin! Every time I listen to Scarlet Tempest, I am wanting the violin part to repeat. And you're right about Ys VI. Why we never got any other Ys VI CDs after the Songs of Zemeth will be a mystery. I think a speedy violin version of Windslash Steps would RULE, and Ernst would also have to be on that CD. If anyone's interested I made a Gelaldy fight video with the SAV Scars. I would have included other bosses, but aside from the final battle I didn't have any other save files close to a boss. It does cover most of the track though. youtube.com/watch?v=TXS3IJPZjuM
