What about the obligatory PS2 port that comes before the PSP one? OBLIGATORY!!

Sorry dood, Falcom only makes PSP games. BUT: A PS2 port would be a lot more awesome. BUT #2: This is still cool. Now there's actually a chance this game will be available in English someday. I hope someone decides to do it. Real soon! Like, yesterday. I wouldn't mind downloading buying the PSP game right now... in English. Mastiff maybe? Their Gurumin translation was pretty cool. If they did it, and changed their name to something less disgusting, they would rock.

True, as they'll probably do a better job than Konami did with AoN.

YES! This totally calls for a Mastiff or XSeed localization.

Agreed on all counts. I'll take my fix of Origin (in well-translated English) anywhere I can get it! Let's keep crossing our fingers that someone like Mastiff gets hold of rights someday.
Though it IS a bit early to speculate, since even the Japanese release has no date set so far.

It's not the translation per se. I mean I really thought their translations were good, its how they converted (or ported, if you want to put it that way) the PC version of Ys VI onto the PSP. Even trying it out on my Slim PSP, they was very little improvement. But this is pretty much a matter of opinion, out of respect.
Edit: As for Bandai, I only got LoH I - III since they're the only ones (except the real first one for TG-CD) that got a U.S. release.

With that said, hopefully, and if they'll do it, it should be a much better improvement. 'Nuff said.

Aw. Well it isn't exactly surprising. I also did find Rpg-fan's source a little fishy.

wow, so it came along with that crazy "news" about the coloured wiis releasing with smash bros brawl and the animal vehicles being in Mario Kart, eh? haha, if I had known that i'd have called fake earlier but yeah, it being "announced" on RPGfan (and only RPGfan) should have been fishy enough.

Oh, I agree, Konami's PSP port of Ys VI was pretty terrible. But their skills at porting things to the PSP aren't in question here: FALCOM THEMSELVES are porting Ys Origin. Konami would JUST be translating it, PERIOD. So even if Konami are the ones to bring us Ys Origin PSP in English, I think we can all rest assured it'll be a quality release. As I said, the only company we have to worry about is Bandai. -Tom I agree that the quality of the PSP port is really poor. But I enjoyed the game greatly! It's the most fun I've had with my PSP, no doubt. I guess no matter how much you mess up, you can never ruin Ys VI. Ys VI rules! Ys IV rules!

RPGFan is a fine website. Probably my favorite gaming news source. They just got "tricked," like so many other people did. Most of the time, though, when it comes to Falcom-related news, they're right on the money... and very rarely do they post something that proves to be false. I just hope they post a retraction soon. -Tom In that case, I take back my last statement. Still, they should've double-checked their resources. Just saying.

Well, darn! In retrospect, that source of theirs did seem a little odd. Normally I've seen them cite Famitsu directly, or one of the other big gaming new spots on the Japanese end of the web. Ah, well. Maybe news of that fakey announcement will give Falcom some ideas! ^.^ Like YsF for PSP first.. THEN Origin... (Hey, worth hoping, right?)

YsF doesn't deserve just a quiet handheld release, if you ask me. They should try to bring it to consoles in all it's glory, where it'd go less unnoticed. I mean, if any Ys game is capable of giving the series a 2nd shot at non-Japanese markets it's Felghana, so it'd be great to see it on a console with a very large installed base. Right now would be the perfect time for them to bombard the PS2 with greatness. Games are still releasing for it and the console is still selling, but the amount of big games has died down... Falcom could fill that void.
I'm not considering how likely it is or what publishers would rather want, I'm just saying it'd be nicer this way, at least in my eyes, if it could happen. It'd be amazing if Falcom could one by one bring over everything the non-JP audiences have been missing our on, like SNK is with it's games (although in that case the publishers who've decided to do that have the advantage of just having to translate the already made PS2 Japanese ports).

Yeah, I'd also prefer YsF on a PS2.
Though I'm not expecting it. xD
