There's a story summary that covers the important bits courtesy of Gillian Seed and Freakman, but it was only ever intended to cover the important bits. So many of the things that make it an enjoyable game - the character development, the characters themselves, the humour, the world itself - are either watered down or missed entirely by just relying on an important bits guide. And it gets even worse when you get Second Chapter, because the guide for that basically writes out what you can see and doesn't tell you the important bits at all (As an example, paraphrased, "You go to X but couldn't stop them." Pretty much omits all the interesting plot points revealed in said scene.) and, of course, no character development there either. I have no doubts you'll enjoy the game, but it'll be a shadow of itself.
If you really must though, the FC guide: gillianseed.free.fr/ed6faq.txt It's mostly the same as the one on gamefaqs, but with the story summary added at the bottom.
And then for SC: www.gamefaqs.com/computer/doswin/file/931100/42090 (the one guild guide on gamefaqs is passable but sometimes completely wrong - it can be reasonably used for the monster extermination quests (the ones with の手配魔獣 at the end), but for a few quests that involve actual Japanese ability it's either slightly off or plain wrong. Use with caution.)
There's nothing for 3rd yet, but I'm strongly toying with the idea of rectifying this and doing a guide myself complete with as much detail as I can muster and some random bits of dialogue translated. That's a maybe though.)
I get the impression from your introduction post that you've already played FC through though, in which case I can understand the 'dying to understand' very well. FC it's mostly character development the guide misses out but for SC, if there's any story stuff you don't understand (if the guide seems to be missing something out, it probably is) I can try to help if you have MSN (address is in profile) and you catch me in one of those rare times I'm not working, out, tired, or actually playing the game). PMs work, they're just slower.
