Upgrade your OS to Windows XP and everything will work great.
Also, lose Bearshare, unless you love spyware.

well actually, this isn't my computer. it's my friend's computer. and he took a screen shot for me and told me to post it on these boards and see if i could get someone to help him. i guess i'll tell him to just upgrade his OS to XP then if there truly isn't another way to get Ys working on vista...

I'm sure there is a way to get it to run on Vista, but why have an inferior OS when you can get the better one - XP - for free?

In XP, you can run a game/program in compatibility mode with Windows '95 or '98. Do they have anything like that in Vista. I'm just curious because based on all of the bad things I've heard about Vista, I'm not planning on upgrading anytime soon.

You mean downgrading?
Vista does have backwards compatibility modes, but it works a lot worse than in XP (which already works really poorly).

Eh, Seldane didn't raise the font size in your post, Rubicent. The quote is from doppiapunta, and he raised its size because it is what his question was referring to. Also, that link is a demo of the game, it's not legal to download the original thing anyway. Hm... also I don't think you should tell your friend to buy the Vista version. He would waste money, because all he needs to do is simply install Windows XP. If he doesn't want to upgrade his O.S. though, then just tell him to download a software to make virtual PCs, then he only needs to configure one with the Windows XP O.S.. If I was him, I'd just upgrade to Windows XP. Simple!

I didn't do anything to the font, and I don't care if people download the game illegally, because I approve of piracy.

lol Seldane... sorry about that.
Anyway, I told my friend to upgrade to XP, but he wants Vista... So I guess he just can't play Ys for now. Oh well...
