As much as I hate having to register to new forums I hope that someone will find this interesting enough. [Versions of Ys that I bought: European version to PS2 and PSP.] [I'm getting the US and JAP releases if I can.] I started on a compilation of a european cheat list for Ys VI. European codes are below: MASTER CODE: Input this before anything else ----------------- Y1 B1 R1 Y1 B1 R1 ----------------- B3 R3 Y2 R2 B3 Y3 - Makes all shop items cost 1G. R2 Y2 B2 Y4 B4 R4 - Clearflag: Turns on all special features from game clear. B1 R1 Y1 - Opening in English. B3 R1 Y1 - Opening in English with German subs. R1 B1 R1 - Original Anime Opening Movie I know there's not many codes in there, but I got bored mashing in codes and I've put the game on the shelf a while. However here is my second addition. A just now put together password translation. This is for the US version and it has been confirmed for PS2 by myself. It should be easy to understand. With this you should be able to convert any English codes to Japanese. I've taken a popular code as an example to translate to Japanese after I figured out the color changes. Any comments and/or questions is welcome. I pasted the document from my txt file below: Ys - The Ark of Napishtim Password Translation by Sai Youcho. www.moonsoul.net----------------------------------------------------- Master Code - US - R,B,Y,R,B,Y B - Blue Y - Yellow R - Red US - JAP B -> R Y -> B R -> Y ------------ Explanation: ------------ Blue for the English codes corresponds to Red in the Japanese codes. Check the checklist above for the color changes. -------- Example: -------- alt. olha in bikini in english ------------------------------- Blue (5), Yellow (3), Red (2), Blue, Yellow (2), Red (3) -------------- Translated to: -------------- alt. olha in bikini in japanese ------------------------------- Red (5), Blue (3), Yellow (2), Red, Blue (2), Yellow (3)

No problem. I will try to put together a more complete code list for the European version later on. However no one seems to know how many there are for the PAL version.

Very interesting stuff!
Another way to get codes is to complete the (European) PSP version on various difficulty levels (probably applies to the boss rush as well). I only got one, but I am sure that there are more in it.

Thank you. =)
Yeah I got one code from completing the psp version as well. I think that's where I got the all items cost 1G code, and of course they also give you the master code in the psp version.
Hoping I can find a nice code to max out the level at the start of the game so I can finally beat Majunun's ass. I think the closest I got was like 2000hp left on the damn thing.

I don't think you need to beat that boss though, you can just grab the treasure and then run for it. Although it can be satisfying to beat it, I bet. I've never even found it.

Majunun? Nay! No need to beat it for the Elder Orb or whatever the chest behind it has. I know this from experience since the first time I got to it, I fought Majunun and lasted about 5 seconds. The second time I went there, I just dashed in, nabbed the item, and ran out. XD
This is the PC version though but I would think that the boss doesn't drop any items in the PS2 or PSP ones either.
Oh, the little bugger is located at a part that's a bit above the bottom of the Ruins of Amnesia. There's a part with all the broken platforms where you can leap into the middle of these pillars and you end up in the area where the optional boss is. I THINK you need the item to see invisible platforms to get into the room though? (This was written from memory so I dunno the accuracy of it! XD!!!)

I heard that he drops 3 capla waters. And I know that I don't have to beat him, but Ernst was a pansy and I want to beat all the bosses in the game. I don't even remember how many times he kicked my ass. >_>
Oh and btw nunuu you don't need the item to see invisible platforms to get to him. You just need to know where to jump.
I found him through a guide on gamefaqs and I was actually surprised when I was standing mid-air outside his room. Because I didn't know there was invisible platforms there. xD

Yeah, he's not hard to find, only extremely badass. At level 50 he still kicked my ass big time.

I think I was level 54 when I took him on last time.
However what is the deal with the game not giving you ANY more than 1 exp from whatever enemy you defeat at that level?
The only way to level up in the end seems to be by grinding the mini games and pick levels as reward.

Yeah, grinding the mini games is the only (and too easy) way. The game gets unbalanced because of those mini games.

Too easy? You can't possibly mean that you managed to beat them all and several levels of some of them?
The mini game where you should save the stoned villagers is a total bitch. I never managed beating that one yet. It seems extremely bugged how some of the enemies just don't seem to be possible to hit in it even with the right sword.

Heh, I kept re-loading my Quick Saves (as I back them up to my PC) to get S ranks on the trials.

I think I beat about 10 mini games, which almost got me to level 60. After that, the game was totally crippled. Not an ounce of challenge to be found anywhere.

Once I got started on the Trials this time, I actually found them very easy. The first time round that is! Redoing some a second time (such as the 'discover the enemies amongst the fleeing villagers' one!) were almost impossible! X( I leveled up to 60 that way too! One can't level up anymore than that, can one? Since after that there was a very funny non-levelling notice. X'D I ended up getting 2 codes after clearing the game, by the way. The master code and the 1G one. (I played on Normal! Aaaand... I think I have the US PSP version.) Hoping I can find a nice code to max out the level at the start of the game so I can finally beat Majunun's ass. I think the closest I got was like 2000hp left on the damn thing. Er... don't know if this will be of any help to you all, but I found lots of such codes at Gamefaqs? I actually saw a code for max level (or atleast level 60, which I'm assuming is the max [since it was so for me!]) there:

Sorry, the codes on Gamefaqs are for the NA version of the game. Not compatible with the PAL version.

Heh, I kept re-loading my Quick Saves (as I back them up to my PC) to get S ranks on the trials. Quicksaves? Hey, that's cheating. >.> I played the trials on the PAL PSP version. Sorry, the codes on Gamefaqs are for the NA version of the game. Not compatible with the PAL version. Yeah that's right. However I'll try to convert the US level code to the PAL version. Shouldn't be too hard I guess. Which just got me an idea how this might be working. If the US codes can be easily translated into codes with Japanese as the language, then maybe the US codes can be translated the same way as the Japanese.

Probably not, as the Japanese and American versions are exactly the same, except they swapped the languages in each version. Every bit of data available in the Japanese release, is available in the American one, and vice versa.
The European version, however, was reprogrammed (to include different text languages, and adding a PAL mode, for example) and has a completely different disc structure (they also cut out a lot of data from it, so it takes up over one GB less space on the disc than their japanese and american counterparts).

That's not what I meant.
The code translation isn't for US/Japanese Version. But to use the codes that are usually in English language to Japanese language and vice versa.
And some codes also seem to work on the European version by entering them backwards. The only major thing bugging me about the codes is the way you input them by hitting the switches with the sword.
Since for some reason Adol loves to triple hit or even quadruple hit the switches every now and then instead of landing just a single hit on them, thus increasing the input times drastically since you need to make sure he only hits it a certain amount of time seeing how you can't simply delete the last strike instead of starting all over again.
