Getting the official strategy guide for Ys VI just crossed my mind and I thought it would be wise to ask you guys if it's worth the money beforehand. So, is it? I don't actually need it for the walkthrough alone. The main reason to buy it would be some nice artwork And if anybody knows where to find some screenshots, I'd be happy to see them!

I have it and I like it. There are a few artwork pieces and plenty of colorful images and maps as well as some nice charts in the back. It's put together pretty well, which is more than I can say for some of the other brady game guides, but it's still nothing compared to the Japanese books and such. You might be able to find it pretty cheap on ebay.

If you plan on getting Japanese guidebooks, beware of the V-Jump guides as they tend to only cover the first HALF of any damn game they cover. >:( I have 2 or 3 of their books and they're ALL like that (even if they say "Complete Guide".)
Famitsu seems to put out good, ACTUALLY COMPLETE guides though.
Unfortunately, I don't have any of the Ys VI guidebooks. The only one that I have that could be considered a book with screenshots and pretty artworks is the giant Complete Works of Ys or whatever which covers I - VI. The art in there is mostly stuff that everyone's seen already (i.e. stuff all over the Web).
I think the Ys VI Material Collection DVD has the stuff you're looking for. :3

Thanks for the recommendations! But I guess I'll skip on the Falcom Special Box. I just love to have art books so it's not exactly what I'm looking for. I guess I'll go for the guide and see what other artbooks I can get my hands on.

I saw it for $5.00 on ebay and picked it up. The maps in it are detailed, and it did help me find a few items that I had trouble finding. Worth the money, if you ask me.
