I think you have a hard time finding it because it has a different title for US. " The Weathering Continent" is what is called. Its actually based on a japanese light novel that has like 20 volumes, so the OVA is really hard to make sense out of it, but at least the art is nice (same character designer from Record of Lodess War (Novel character design is from Tales of Destiny and other) .

Awesome, I totally found it. I am planning on watching this tonight between attempts to finish Cannon Spike and Border Down.

I've listened to other songs by the same artist, but none of them seem to be as good as this one... they're all generic j-rock, without this awesome punk sound. But I have to say, I *really* like this song... it's just super-cool, yo! -Tom Which other songs did you listen to? I think Mami Kawada has a really great voice, especially in songs like Triangle and Sense

The only way I can sum up Detroit Metal City is "RAPE RAPE RAPE RAPE."
Can't believe no one's brought up Baccano!'s OP yet:

Forgive me if I repeat any, but this reminds me of a topic I created on another forum so I had to chime in. Hopefully I'll be forgiven for not linking any vids, but I want to check to make sure I don't repost anything that's been done before. Favorites, in no order:
Avenger OP Avenger ED Noir OP Record of Lodoss War Chronicles of the Heroic Knight OP(better than the anime itself!) Tenchi Muyo! OP (original OVA) Gundam SEED 1st ED Paranoia Agent OP (saw this was posted though.. the artist also did some work for Berserk) and completely random but has been stuck in my head since my days watching dubs on VHS because I couldn't afford the subs: Maps OP

Whew caught up. The topic reminded me of a bunch more songs that I had forgotten.. stuff like the Utena TV OP, Higurashi's 1st OP, Escaflowne OP, GitS:SAC OP, Area 88's weird tie-in with Vincent de Moor, Yoko Kanno's work on Macross Plus.. etc
Also got a quick lol at Words Worth discussion from over a year ago. I don't think I wanna come forth with how much I know about that game/remake/series
Someone also already got the Lodoss War TV and OVA OPs. Now I'm gonna show off my unhealthy obsession with Avenger. It really is a badly-executed, forgettable series, but the soundtrack by Ali Project was amazing (before all their stuff started sounding the same to me) and there were these annoying hints at a truly interesting sci-fi world on Mars that were never fully developed through the series proper. What's funny is that the OP and ED do a better job of conveying the events leading up to the beginning of the series and the ending of the series than the show itself did.. well, once you know what you're looking at in these vids that is

Wow... that IS pretty cool! Never seen that opening before. Now I'm curious about the show... is it any good? -Tom I loved it through and through, but it really depends on whether you like that kind of humour. I suggest trying it though - it's an OVA with 13 short episodes. The manga has more content, and there's also a movie. As for Avenger, the only reason I've it is because Ali Project did the entire soundtrack for that one. Otherwise from what I heard, it's supposed to be a pretty mediocre anime. schlagwerk, you might want to get some A.P. albums, sunce the stuff they write for anime is really different from what goes to albums. Their actual songs are more like french pop with violins, and occasionally some psychedelic tracks... Their Orchestra album is pretty amazing:

ALI Project's work got really stale for me in the past 3 or so years. Their old stuff is great, though, especially Noir's OP.

I dunno, I like their recent works. It's different from the old stuff, and it's "all the same ****" compared to older anime OPEDs, but imho pretty good. Baragoku Otome from Rozen Maiden OVA was pretty good; I loved Kotodama from Shigofumi and Rara Eve Shinseiki from SoraKake. Psychedelic Insanity was a great album. They have their ups and downs, but are overall one of the few unique and interesting bands in the whole cookie-cutter JPOP/ROCK scene. ON TOPIC: The series with the most consistent record of awesome OP/EDs for me thus far is Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei, the series has got brilliant voice actors who also feature in the songs, as well as a cool guy doing the rest of the songs with his band. In particular, I can't get over the awesomeness of Inoue Marina's voice. OPs, from season one in order, omitting the ones with minor divergence in animation: EDs are usually just the girls singing, except Marionette and that last one done by the male lead. Unlike the OPs which are all same music and animation style, all EDs are very different in both aspects; same order: Oh, and not to forget the randomness: Random Parody OP: Random Special ED: PS: I think I just won the "how many videos can you include in one post" contest EDIT: So I was looking through old posts, saw wyrdwad mention Mahoujin Guruguru, a great old classic with a nice OST. Too bad the anime is almost impossible to find these days. Also saw someone mention Shingetsutan Tsukihime. It's a shameful, horrible anime that should be completely erased from everyone's memory and denied existence. Too bad it can't be unseen.

The Tsukihime anime is like the Ys II anime. They're both perfectly good stand-alone series until you find out how much of the story was cut out. If you watch the anime first before learning the truth, they can be enjoyable. ...I'd never go back and re-watch Tsukihime now, though.

Hm, that Tsukihime and Ys II anime comparisons was interesting, admittedly... but actually, I kind of disagree. xD I think the Ys II anime kicks ass big time in its own way. As for the Tsukihime anime, well, I recall someone said once around here pretty much what I thought of it (fireinthehole...?), about how you would only actually understand many of the things in it if you had played the game and all... that's true. But dunno, despite the contradictions with what's on the game (though that isn't a bad thing, since the game is full of contradictions itself) and the somewhat disappointing artwork, especially when compared to the game's and its sequels' (Melty Blood, Kagetsu Tohya etc.), I think the anime also had many strong points. I like how it all ends, and how it all still remained somewhat touchy. Of course, that's merely my humble opinion. Compared to many other problematic things, I think that anime turned out satisfactory. EDIT: Corrected TYPO-MOONs here. xD

SHAFT in general know how to make great OPs and EDs, SZS is yet another example of that.
Also, why are you guys discussing a non-existant anime?

You can still download fansubs of them, can't you? Or have the fansubs vanished at this point, like so many older fansubs have? If anyone wants a copy, I've got the whole run, and can probably send it to you over the course of... large amounts of time. -Tom Not that I can find. If you can link me to any, I'd be thankful/impressed. If you start slowly uploading it somewhere (MU?) that'd be great too... Also, why are you guys discussing a non-existant anime? I saw someone mention it, and decided to express my opinion about its existance

I should say that I really like the Ys II anime. I'm a sucker for high-fantasy anime (Lodoss War OVA and Scrapped Princess are 2 of my favorite series of all time)
I was just looking for a comparison between 2 series that can be entertaining and comprehensive without outside knowledge of the original source, but take major liberties with the plot. I could've compared Tsukihime to the Silent Hill movie, but that would been an entire other can of worms.

Hmm? Am I missing something? If you're referring to Ys II, it exists. It's the Ys IV anime that was never made, and only exists as a short pilot trailer. But there are 7 episodes of Ys I anime, and 4 episodes of Ys II anime. You can find all 11 of these episodes pretty cheap, sold in a single DVD box-set called "Ys Legacy". -Tom Nah, I was referring to Tsukihime. Most people I know that've played the VN and seen the anime pretty much deny its existence.

According to AnimeSuki, the batch torrent for the whole show still has 7 seeders as of this moment: www.animesuki.com/series.php/38.htmlLMK if you can't get it, though, and I'll put it up on my FTP for you or something. It's a great show, well worth checking out. -Tom Well, I've seen the show before, but I would very much like to re-watch it. Unfortunately, I can't do torrents while I'm on campus. Don't worry about uploading it though, since I found a site with all of it up on MU. Here it is for anyone interested: hsbsitez.com/files/1687/Mahoujin+Guru+GuruIf you have and could upload season 2 though, that'd be nice since I haven't seen that.

Man, why is it so hard to find a vid of the original Tenchi Muyo OVA OP? I found one on youtube but it was removed. I can find all the other OPs but never the original that was just an instrumental piece.
In the meanwhile, more Ali Project with the Noir OP
and Gundam SEED ED 1
I always liked how this series and Fushigi Yuugi lead into their ending themes. Something important is happening, you start hearing the song in the background, and you know that crap, the episode is over. (that's also why the first part of the vid is just black)
I need more of the Tsukihime manga. I'm not a fan of playing visual novels in general, and on top of that I find the original art of Tsukihime to be atrocious. But the manga is actually a good portrayal of the story and has good art. Shame the US release is being butcheredhandled by an inexperienced and unknown publisher.
EDIT: Since I still can't find Tenchi, you get El Hazard OVA OP. I don't think it's that great of an OP, but it gives me an excuse to plug the El Hazard OVA as my 3rd favorite anime of All Time(tm). Seriously I could just watch this show over and over..

Well, Tenchi Muyo is def. licensed, and probably popular enough for those who hold the rights in the US to care for their copyright on Youtube.
As for Tsukihime VN, the art is pretty bad, but tbh it could as well have no art at all and still be awesome. It's the story that matters. Oh, I can't wait for the English release of Kara no Kyoukai.

Some one is cracking down hard on the Tenchi Muyo OVA 1 copyright on youtube. I can find plenty of other Tenchi but the first OVA. The vids I do find have been recently removed due to copyright.
