I've been playing Ys2 on the NES and everything was fine until the fire area. When I entered the area where Gelaldy is there was no boss there and the door to the exit opened but I couldn't go through it. Then when I left the room and came back in the door was closed again with no way to open it.
Is this some glitch with the NES version or is there something I have to do before I can fight Gelaldy?

Hey, i have the same exact problem!! I know this is an old post, but did you ever figure out what to fo? I bought a translated cart, and played all the way up to that part, and the boss never loaded and the door was open and i couldnt get through. I was thinking about restarting the whole game, but ive leveled up so much. Did yiu ever figure out what to do? Id hate to have to throw the game out

I played the NES version of Ys II back in the day and didn't run into any problems, sounds like a game breaking glitch to me.

Did you play it on an emulator, or a reproduction cart? I'm playing mine on a repro cart. its really depressing, because ive literally put so much time into leveling up. When i enter the boss fight, nobodies there and the door is wide open, only i cant go through it. When leaving the screen and coming back in, the door is closed, but the boss doesnt load. Its totally a game breaking glitch. I cant go any further. Im wondering if its an issue when put on actual hardware. Ive been looking online to see if anybody else has had this problem, but the only thing ivenfound is the post by the previous poster and they had the same exact issue. I hope my cart isnt junk

I played using the FCE Ultra emulator and I was using the translated (English) rom. That's too bad though, I really liked the NES version of Ys 2, it stayed mostly true to the original and the combat was fast paced, unlike the dreadful Ys NES. I'm pretty sure Solomon Shrine is mapped the same as the original version, like they didn't try change the layout like they did with the other areas of Ys 2 NES. But overall, very good version of Ys 2.
