And is it an emulated version or a port?

Well i think i found this version over the net. I think it's a port since there ins't any trace of the emulator. After installing it there is a standalone exe in the folder. However if you have this extra i'm very interested in buying it. Let me know if you have and the price. Thank you Bye Bye

Pretty damn sure it's emulated, not ported. It's just using an "official" emulator in a self-contained executable.

It IS emulated. It is one of those Soft-City Project Egg emulations. They have emulators for almost every old system, and then they embed ROM data in the emulator, and then sell it online. You can probably get the ROM out of there, with some programming.
Ys 1-5 Complete Works, that came with Ys VI LE and Ys VI Collector's Pack, contains the EXACT same exe file. It also contains Ys IV Mask of the Sun, using the very same emulator.
It is a very bad and emulator, however. It is greatly inferior to Zsnes, for example. There is no reason to play this particular Ys 5. It's better to download a ROM and play it with Zsnes.

That box is so gorgeous! So so pretty! (...I seem to be dying at boxes a lot these past few days... ) The manual looks nicer still. Ys V had the best artwork out them all, in my opinion. Somehow, seeing this is making me feel incredibly sad for some reason. ...I wish Ys V had been brought over in english...

I'm interested n this Ys 6 LE - are all the older games the Snes releases, the old PC releases or something else? I imagine it's difficult to get but what's the usual price range for it?

Ys Complete Works contains the PC-8801 versions of Ys 1-3, and the SFC versions of Ys 4-5. All emulated. I don't recommend getting Ys VI LE solely for this. It's nothing special.
It usually costs around 50 dollars these days, shipping included (which is the biggest part of the price, as the box is so big and heavy).

That's a really nice suprise - I thought it'd be more than that.
It would be the only reaon for getting the LE - I don't have Ys6 anyway, and getting to play new versions (to me) of the older games would be fun.

Yeah, the PC-8801 versions are great, but I don't find any excitement from a collection of emulated games. I did take Ys 1 from it with me to school and played it there, though. Convenient with only one tiny exe file. I had it on a diskette, I think.

Aw, sad. If I find another one, Yakra, I'll send it to you. And I am sure we'll get an English translation someday, even if I have to do it myself! I'll keep an eye out on your lists in hope you get your hands on a copy one day, some day! Heh... and then I'll clutch the box (in that one day, far away) and be sad about Ys V not being translated, rather than clutching a measly ROM and sighing away! X'D

Just out of curiosity, lets say that the sfc rom version of Ys V doesn't get translated any time in the near future, would it be even possible to translate the PC emulated version that either comes with Ys VI LE or the individual windows version? I'm guessing not since it's emulated, but I thought I'd ask for clarification.

I love the PC88 versions...enough that I'm importing a PC88 as I type this. Should be here soon. I've passed up on a few Ys VI LE's, kimimi, but I will let you know if I see a cheap one. You know I asked for a copy of Ys VI LE some time go.. don't you? Well...think about me when you'll have some copies. I really want it

There are a few of the LE Ys VI sets on Yahoo Japan Auction's lately. I just recently won an auction for the Ys VI LE version, Zwei!! and Xanadu Next for around 1900 yen. Of course, I'm bidding through a middleman service, so the price doesn't include the commission fees, handling fees and shipping. I think when everything was said and done, it ended up being around $60-80 total after shipping. Still a great deal for three falcom games that I've been wanting to play for awhile. But, the middleman site that I use, Rinkya, doesn't charge the extra $20 commission for auctions ending at or below 1000 yen. So if you manage to get a Ys VI LE for 1000 yen (which is entirely possible, since I did see a few end at that price) then you could get it for probably around $25 before shipping and maybe 40-50 after shipping. But since they combine the shipping after collecting all of your auction wins at their Japan warehouse, you could save on the combined shipping. -Thomas Edit: Here's a few of them: 1. page6.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/f754711812. page11.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/n719897683. page2.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/b93488784* Unrelated, but ooh! Falcom Vista Collection! : ) page7.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/g74479561

Yeah there are a few auctions right now, but for all the Ys V fans, there just isn't enough to go around. I would be in total support of a shared .iso if this were the case.

Yeah that would definitely be an an issue, unless Falcom provides it for sale individually in some form or another that contains the same .exe file. I'm wondering if a project like that were to be completed if it is even possible to recommend that Falcom provide the Ys 1-V LE disc for sale on its own... Especially if one were to somehow suggest to them that doing so would make several import gamers happy which would in turn make Falcom's wallet happy...ier.

The emulated Ys V for Windows has been made by Project EGG, and it can be downloaded (in exchange for money) on their website. Falcom just licensed it from them (I guess, or they might have some kind of arrangement), to include it with Moonlight Destiny and Ys VI LE/CP. But I can provide the exe to anybody who wants it. It's only 3,01 MiB. Ys Complete World buy link: www.amusement-center.com/project/egg/cgi/ecatalog-detail.cgi?contcode=7&product_id=638However, Project EGG's emulators are really sub-par. The SNES one in particular. The ONLY settings are: windowed or full screen mode. And it doesn't let you choose the resolution (which makes it unusable on lcd monitors). It does let you rearrange the controls, at least. But the biggest problem is that it scales the graphics incorrectly. This scaling causes all the graphics in the entire game to "animate" when the screen is scrolling - even graphics that are supposed to be completely static. This makes playing the game an unbearable experience to anybody who even remotely cares about video quality. Playing the actual ROM using SNES9x or ZSNES is much more satisfactory. So translating the "Windows version" would be a very bad choice.
