I am having black screen problem and have to keep restarting every time I tried opening the game.
The game has already been patched to date.
Tried the adding of YSF_WIN_dw9.exe and YSF_WIN.exe in the "don't use ffdshow in" but it doesn't help.
I am using Windows XP Pro 64bit with Service Pack 2.
Can someone help me on this?

I have the same problem here. My PC already has Japanese Language Support installed from Windows XP CD. Ys Origin & VI works fine but when it comes to YsF I tried to use English patch & it worked... but since I'm Japanese, I prefer Nihongo Hope someone can help us settle this problem...

Instead of adding the exes to the ffddshow esclusion try to set the ffdshow to not manage the MPEg1 file format. I really think that the problem is caused by the ffdshow mpeg1 management. Just try and let's know..it's a suggestion

Posted here for sharing: I had this problem also. I tried a lot of different settings, reinstall, update drivers, change the ffdshow thingy, etc but with no luck. Detailed problem: Black screen but got sound. Have to press reset button to restart pc if use fullscreen.(Managed to solve this problem by using windowed) Using XP SP3 Home. Graphics driver does not support vertex shader(but I've turn it off in settings)
I'm not sure if it's SP3's problem since I did not uninstall it and I don't really trust my graphics driver. But rather I gave up and try install it on my housemate's pc which she rarely use and it works. She still have XP SP2 but her pc specs are also much much higher.
