Can't retract vote on this one. Anyway, choose! ======================== I go for either Blirante or "don't know which". (But I voted for Blirante.) Actually I like Livart's swings and speed more, maybe even the skill. And I don't like Blirante's magic too much. But Blirante's skill is really, really useful in battle, much more than what I recalled. Excelent range and power, and it deals a great number of hits. It's extremely important when playing the game in higher difficulties, since it's a very defensive skill. Examples: There's one of these "stunning pigs with horns" that run after you really fast. If they hit you and you get slowed down, you're screwed sometimes. =x You can taunt them big getting in front of them, then all you got to do is to Dash Jump to get away from them while charging the skill mid-air, and release it a while after you land. They will run at you, but will also get hit by the fire's "tip". They die, and if they don't, repeat. There's also these anoying seahorses and other flying creatures that can be terminated by that skill. Etc. Note: I love Ericcil's magic. =)

I Love Ericcil. Even if it isn't the most powerful sowrd in game I love it. It's fast, easy to use and it has a very powerful spell. I ove his lightning since it can kill a lot of enemies in one single moment. MMoreover it has the power to reach hard place where it's impossible to cast another spell. Ericcil forever . Seciondo choice is Livart.... I don't really like Blirante even if is the most powerful sword in the game.

Livart's my favorite for its speed, width of attack and spinning skill. When Ericcil is at its most poweful levels, I like it best, when I can use its magic over and over again.

When my Defense attribute is high enough, I usually stick with Livart, because after all, it's really the most versatile sword in most ways. But when not, I tend to get along with Blirante for reasons I mentioned above. And since I almost never change from my +10% GOLD armor and money & emel-giving accessories, things get quite difficult later on. And REALLY difficult on Hard and Nightmare. So most times I'm with Blirante. xD Of course, it also depends of the enemy. If the enemy is one of those who damage by touching you or frenetically attack you, I'm with Blirante like I said. But otherwise I just use Livart. Ericcil is fine too, but its horizontal range is a problem sometimes. =s

Whatever sword the blue one is. Its balanced the best, and the whirli-windie combo thing owns. I didn't vote because I don't remember the names.

I chose all 3, simply because I need all of them to stay alive

Then Livart gets the vote, and high fives for picking the same sword.

I'd have to say Ericcil. It's definitely the one I've used the most. The lightning magic works really well when fighting the bosses. It also seems a little easier to do the dash-jump, at least easier than it is with Livart. But I wonder if someone can answer me a question about the PC version. . . For some reason, I've been having trouble with the thunder sword skill. In the PS2 version, all you have to do is tap the button a few times and it propels you. But I can't get it to work at all in the PC version, which makes it impossible to get the Black Tabulas. Has anyone else had this problem, and what can I do to make it work? Thanks in advance.

Just tap the button really fast and it'll work after a while.

Livart! None of the others could even hope to match its awesomeness. It turned Adol into a floaty whirlwind of doom, dancing past the enemies, and then unleashing greater whirlwinds, sending the useless monsters flying to their doom! Nothing could touch Adol when I used that! ...Except those hard shelled maggot-like creatures in the first underground area. X( (What were they called...?) Ericcil comes a close second just because it was fun. Pretty useless (even if it wasn't there, it wouldn't have made much of a difference!) but I loved how it made Adol feel lighter to control, and sometimes that 'zap' of lightning that would pop out, blasting enemies away was an extra plus. Good for when one was getting bored! (While Blirante was actually far more useful, I really didn't like how 'heavy' it felt. )

THAT... wins the thread. <3 Stop trying to kill meeee, Yakura-chan!!! ;_; Livart > Blirante > Ericcil But I agree with you. XD

Eh, now I don't know myself if Livart is my sword of choice. @_@ I should have voted on the last option. =x Also: huh?? I got the Black Tabulas without the Lightning Skill. I never tried that! xD I always got it by upgrading Ericcil to Lv.10 to upgrade the sword's magic to Lv.3. After that, I had to stand in the last platform with my back facing that wall and another platform. Then I unleashed the sword magic, and I would get pushed backwards enough to cross it. xD

Livart for me. It just feels the most natural. Somewhat fast attacks, plus its extension and magic attack is fun to mess around with.
Blirante I find useful when facing certain enemies, namely the ones that give you status ailments (the various slimes in the Limewater Cave, for instance). It's extension generally keeps the enemies a safe distance away, plus it can sometimes deal good consecutive damage if you hit the enemy with it just right. As for its magic attack, I don't really like it all that much, but that's mostly because my aim tends to suck when using the analog sticks. Still, it feels slow to me, so I generally limit Blirante's use to the annoying status inflicting enemies, and a few bosses.
As for Ericcil, I rarely use that sword at all. While it is fast, I sometimes have a hard time hitting enemies with it, plus its extension seems kind of random as to whether or not it will activate. I don't really care for its magic attack either. It just feels weak to me, unless it's aimed at one particular enemy. I usually limit Ericcil's use to a couple of bosses, and whenever enemies are immune to the other swords (on harder difficulties).

You know what, all these 3 swords suck. The BEST one is the Long Sword!! It deserves more love. ='( I mean, an ALoY alloy sword! It's the sword Adol starts with in Ys VI. It is The Sword *TMed*. [...]and whenever enemies are immune to the other swords (on harder difficulties). Wow, man, that explains a lot. I played Ys VI on the PS2 in 2005 on Hard and all. I remember there were some enemies that sometimes would be with the color of one of the swords. Recently, in 2008/2009 I started playing Ys VI on the PSP, but on Normal. I was already wondering where all the colorful enemies went to.

I always wished I could play the game with just that sword. I believe I'd have to hack it to do that though. X3

i've used and liked all of them in the game, for various reason my preferred sword probably is livart, i found it a good compromise, strongh and verstatile, but in some cases it doesn't work, for example against the red-eyed black adol, the only swords that worked there were blirante and ericcil in the end i vote for all three of them since they are well balanced for me ^^

You could use that iluminating accessory to turn that Dark Adol into another enemy. xD Although I recall I'd rather fight the Dark Adol.

Oh well. You know, I sometimes wonder whether or not the Long Sword would be effective against those flying enemies in Kishgal, the ones accompanying the mini-bosses that you can only do 1 damage to no matter which Emelas sword you use. I doubt Falcom would pull a move like that, but it's still something that crosses my mind from time to time.
