I recently got Ark of Napishtim, and went through a number of threads to try and figure out how to get it to work. This is what I did: 1. installed ark of napishtim 2. downloaded english patch 3. placed "config_dx9.exe" and "ys6_win_dx9.exe" into the "PROGRAMS" folder 4. ran the version 1.3.0.5 patch (couldn't understand what it said, but it appeared to have worked correctly) 5. ran the "YsVI_ENG_v1305only.exe" file (also seemed to work correctly) 6. ran Ys6_win.exe This is what I got: Any Ideas? computer information: Operating System - Microsoft Windows Vista Home Edition OS Service Pack - Service Pack 1 DirectX 4.09.00.0904 (DirectX 9.0c) Display: Video Adapter - GeForce 9500M GS

Wel this is an error related to data_a00.na that is tìone of the game archieves and the one where the translation is. Just few questions: you told you tokk config:dx9.exe and config:dx9.exe from the PROGRAMS folder on the DVD and you put them in programs folder in the installdir. IS it right?
Where config_dx9.exe and ys6_win_dx9.exe have to be copied and psated inside the root folder, I mean the one where are config.exe and ys6_win.exe, too. The last thing you have to check is you exe version, click on them and look their version but firstly I think you need a clean installation of the game. Bye Bye

Well, before I try with the English patch, I wanted to make sure the game itself worked. I installed the game, and then ran the patch that came with it, but when I just did that, trying to open the program does nothing. I'd double click the "YsVI" icon that was put on the desktop, but nothing happened. Technically speaking, shouldn't it run regardless of if it has the English patch installed?

I installed the game, and then ran the patch that came with it, but when I just did that, trying to open the program does nothing. What do you mean with this sentence? Ys Vi games doesn't come tohether with a patch. You have to buy a version and then to apply a patch according to the native version you have. So I think you downloaded it.... and this is no good. BTW.. takin' for good you bought the original game, the game won't run if you dodn' have the japanese support installed on your system and if you're not using a native japanese windows. There are some workarounds such as using AppLocale but even with this tool you have to install the support for asian languages before running the game with applocale. Now ..this is the idea I have about what happened: you have a game version, you didn't check the native game version after installin' it( if 1.00, 108, 12.0, 1.30 and so on) and you applied a random patch comin' with it not checking to which version was the game after the update. Now.. a little suggestion. Uninstall the game... delete the install folder. Do a clean install of the game and check the main exe version ( i mean the version of ys6_WIN.exe and S6_WIN_DX9.exe). You can do that simply by selectin' one of them with the right mouse button and then selectin't the properties tab. A new window will be opened and inside them in "General section" you will find the exe version that is to say the game version. Note down the value and the post it here than I'll give you informations how to make the game running in english. Bye Bye

Ys Vi games doesn't come tohether with a patch. Sorry, I guess I should clarify. While I was trying to find a solution to getting the game running, one of the threads I checked had a link to a website with patches for the game, and I assumed that the game's creators had made those to help solve problems with the game. I assumed the patches came out around the same time as the game, which is why I would consider them as "coming with the game". Also, I did the clean install, and the .exe says that the version is 1.0.0.0 sorry for any confusion

So you have the very first release also called "limited edition". Okay..go to the website linked by Wyrdwad and in more details to this page: www.falcom.co.jp/ys6/support/s_prg_01.htmland download the patch 1.1.0.9. After downloadin' it, install it and you'll se the exe version is now 1.1.0.9. The you have to download the english patch called "1.1.0.9" only from my website. All these things were specified in the read-me files that is inside the patch and on the website where you can download the english patch. ys6.figlidigaucci.euBye Bye

Hello, I recently purchased Ys6 Ark and have installed it in Vista. I can run the gamewithout issue prior to trying to apply the translation patch. I have verified that the executable is version 1.3.0.5 and I copied the dx 9 config and dx9 executable from the extra folder to c:\falcom\ys6_win. When I apply the version 1305 english patch it is not patching the game. At first I did not think it was working at all but then I checked my c:\ drive and it is installing all of the patch files to my root drive folder c:\. Anyone have any idea what I am doing wrong at this point and why the patch doesnt seem to be pointing to the correct install directory?

Hi the instller check for the right registry key where the Ys Vi install folder is pecified. It's very strange that the patcher instalss the patch inside c:. I think you should be able to specify manually the right folder that is to say the right C:\falcom\ys6_win folder in your case. Let me know. Bye Bye

I appreciate the quick response. How do I specify the install path when trying to run the patch? I have not seen an way for me to do that unless there is a command line parameter that will let me. Here is what I found in the registry for the falcom titles I have installed I should mention that I believe I was able to get the game translated using the delta files that were created on the root of c:\. I cut the patch files into the c:\falcom\ys6_win and c:\falcom\ys6_win\release folder then ran the commands that I found in patch_root and I think it has translated the game. The menus are in english as is the text for the first several dialogues in the game. I'd prefer figuring out how to get the patch to point to the correct game folder as I am concerned that my little hacking attempt may not have done everything that the patch does.

I saw that you are quite familiar with registry editor so... give me some informations please:
- go to run and write down "regedit" in order to appear the registry editor window.
Then look for the Ys Vi registry key inside HK CURRENT USER
when you find it just write down here all the informations about that key.. for example location and values. Thanks

the only registry items I get when searching the hk_current_user hive are the ones in the pic in my previous post and the path to your patch on my pc (in the download folder). I tried searching for "falcom" "ysvi" and "ys6" I did find a lot of direct input registry keys for ys6 but I'm fairly certain that is not what you were looking for.

Well.. we find the reason. here: seldane.proboards107.com/index.cgi?board=ysVI&action=display&thread=4241another user experinced the same trouble while running the patch on VIsta OS. I found the solution of the trouble. Maybe today or tomorrow I'll release another patch that checks for the OS and look for the right key. In the topic mentioned above you will find all the solutions. Please, have a bit of patience and I'll solve everything. I'm sorry for this inconvenience. bye Bye

I appreciate the information.....I also copied all of the patch files from the root of c:\ into the appropriate game folders. I then ran the commands that I found in the 2 patch_root files and as far as I can tell the game has been translated......just not sure if it missed something due to the installer not running on the correct directory.
I look forward to the updated patch and appreciate all of the help you have provided! Thanks again!

I am having black screen problem with my Ys 6. My Ys 6 is the very first release "limited edition" (version 1.0.0.0.). Recently installed the game and patched it 1.1.0.9. Then installed the english patch called "1.1.0.9" only from ys6.figlidigaucci.euI keep getting black screen and I have to restart my pc every time I try to open the game. Tried the adding of ys6_win_dw9.exe and YSF_WIN_DX9.exe in the "don't use ffdshow in" but it doesn't help. I am using Windows XP Pro 64bit with Service Pack 2. Can someone help me on this? Thanks!

They are for three different versions of the game, so choose the one for your game version and use that one without trying all them one after another. They have the same contents except they are dedicated for different versions.
