Well, it's not Ys I.II COMPLETE and it hasn't english patch and stuff... anyway: After installing the game, I run it. The screen will go black as if it was adjusting the monitor to play the game or something... then it stops and returns to the, uh, "operating system"(?). That error box is the result. It seems the game tries to run some sort of video, but it won't run. I installed the latest kLite Codec Pack, but the problem is still there. I wonder if... using AppLocale or changing my PC settings to "eastern stuff" could solve this problem?

Hm...
- AppLocale doesn't work. - Changing computer settings to japanese doesn't work.
It seems FM-77 isn't able to run it either, although he could before. He suspects it could run flawlessly run on a Windows 98.
If worse comes to worst, I'll have to create a virtual Windows 98 using VirtualPC or some other software for that. But there must be a way to run this on a Windows XP Professional.

Do you have the indeo video codec ? I installed that just now, but the same error keeps showing up. I guess it can't be helped. Maybe my only hope is Windows 98 afterall.
