No, but I'm eager to try it. Though that might take a while. ;_;

I imported it recently, so it won't be here for a while. Adol, what's your PSN name? It's "Gren" Let me know when you get it though so I can get online, cuz I normally play this game in offline mode because all the newbies dying all over the goddamn place clutters up the world and it's annoying. It's a horror game so it's like... not nearly as scary with everyone leaving blood stains and scribbles all over the damn place and with six million ghosts rushing a boss door and dying over and over and over again because none of them know what the hell they're doing. But I'll definitely hop on to co-op with you for a bit and watch your back so you don't get PK'ed. I recommend hitting "Decline" on the online agreement the first few times though and just getting to know the game without the circus of players dying and leaving shit everywhere. I don't think they really thought it would be like this when they designed the online mechanics. There's just WAY too many people right now, because everyone just bought the game and are all stuck in the first 10% of it.

It sounds like once you go online you're stuck that way D:
Is there a way to play single player after you go online?
(stupid question, but I'm unsure)

It sounds like once you go online you're stuck that way D: Is there a way to play single player after you go online? (stupid question, but I'm unsure) Online is totally optional. You can do online or offline whenever you want. I think in a few months when there's not so many people playing all at once it'll be ALOT better. It's supposed to be spooky, where you see ghosts running around and doing shit but you have no way of communicating with them unless you actually summon them into your world to co-op, or if you invade their world to kill them. But when there's a million zillion ghosts all over the damn place and they're all dying like morons constantly, it's uh... not the same. They have some cool features. Like if you approach where someone died, there will be a blood stain... if you touch the blood stain, you'll see that players last few moments alive. This helps prepare you for the insane traps and murderous enemies in the game. The problem with this of course is there are a million blood stains all over the place online right now because people just die all sorts. Also, shitty players die to ANYTHING, so... the blood stain of a skilled player would be a far more significant tip than that of a shitty player, but there's a lot more shitty players at the moment. Also, players can leave spirit messages for one another that say shit like "Trap ahead!" or "This area is not safe!". Cool feature, but it also falls victim to the 'just too many goddamn players' issue. The coolest feature is probably the PvP. While I like my multiplayer a little bit more down to earth than what they have here, it's really cool that you can burrow your way into someone else's single player game and hunt them down on their own turf. I probably won't PK the shit out of people with Adol, although it would give appropriate meaning to "Adol the Red" (player killers glow red when invading someone else's world)

Finally beat the game... took a little under 60 hours, but I didn't do every single thing there was to do. I'm working on New Game+ now... don't be fooled, by the way, it's like... ALOT harder than the first time through, so. Your fancy gear won't make you invincible at all on your second run through. As a matter of fact, it'll be rougher because you won't have such a steep increase in defense and damage to pad the game for you.
Mostly I just want to get my character PvP'able. Need to upgrade my gear to compete with trash who just use plot weapons.

Well, I just preordered this last night... er, for the PS3 I don't actually have yet. :\
(I figured I better grab it now, being an Atlus game and all.)

Anyone else here getting this (while having the right hardware to play it)? Kinda looking forward to it, curious to see how far my dungeon crawling tastes can go.
Of course, my character will be a brown haired Wanderer named Ares Toraernos.

Grabbed the Deluxe edition when it was released, got so pissed at the game I put it away for a while..now I've been playing almost 17 hours straight today :[.
Freakin' got my ass handed to me by 4-2 boss, and lost 60k souls..WHY THE HELL doesn't this game respawn you infront of the freaking boss door?!!?313lfsa It felt so long and hard to finally get to the boss..then everything's gone just like that..took an hour break and decided to finish 2-2 and 2-3 so I can get into 1-4..
Since I was so used to the easy enemies in 2-2, when I finally went into 1-4 I was SLAUGHTERED by an axeman, taking out 4/5 of my HP (afffffasfdljs). Died once, grabbed my souls back, got 3/4 through the level and a lardass fire throwin' guy burns me to a crisp, then I die by the axemen at the beginning of the level again so my previous soul point with 30k souls went byebye. Siiigh, time for another long break from this game.
Anyway, PSN ID is FlameBrand

Yeah, the game doesn't really work like normal games in terms of level difficulty. Level 1-2 is harder than 5-1, for example. 1-3 and 1-4 are meant to be the last levels, so no wonder you were getting wrecked. You might care to notice that 1-3 is blocked until you conquer at least one other #-3 level, and going beyond that, you might notice that 1-4 is the only #-4 level in the entire game. If you're using a melee character, might I suggest using the Purple Flame Shield as your shield, since it not only has both very sturdy damage defense AND fire defense, but it can also block pretty much ANY attack, even ones that make you flinch with other shiels. Of course, some bosses will just go straight through it, but I'm talking normal enemies, like Red-Eye Knights and Dual Katana Skeletons. Oh, but it's heavy, so better pump some stats into Endurance. Trust me though, it's worth it.

Ah..I've been using Adjudicator's Shield to negate Makoto. Guess I should go back to using Dragon Longsword or Winged Spear with this shield..
Btw, when I was around SL15 or so I read a guide about getting a ton of rare items by killing the merchant in 2-1..apparently that guide LIED cuz he didn't drop crap. Is there any way to get the merchant back? I'm in need of some hardstones.

I ended up beating the game with a Quality Claymore +4 and Purple Flame Shield +8, I didn't have too hard of a time against anything with this setup. I'm on NG+ now, though, which is like infinitely harder, so I'm fixing to get a Blueblood Sword made. I just need to get my magic stat to 18 first... Which might be hard given that one level costs about 60k souls for me.
Oh, just saw the edit. No, sorry, once you kill an NPC, they're gone until NG+

Not as quick and easy as buying them unfortunately, but it's better than nothing.

You can also raise your Luck, since shards aren't a very rare drop, you should be getting them at a decent rate even if you don't level up your luck that much. Though I guess the problem there is that unless you're gonna be making yourself a Blueblood Sword, then there are far better stats to raise than Luck.

Ok, so, I finally started playing this. xD My bro wanted to give me a PS3 game for Christmas, and the only thing that popped up in my head was Demon's Souls.
As everyone here said, that game is incredibly hard. This is definitely NOT for people who like to take it easy with a game. It's really serious business.
Anyway, I'm enjoying this game a lot. At first, I was a bit disappointed for seeing the game pretty much had no story and initially didn't seem to have spectacular features, but it's incredibly fun. I often felt I was there in the game, because I seriously had to focus in order not to die. And the whole enviroment is incredible; I really feel I got sucked into the game.
For now, I only did stages 1-1 until 1-3 (started 1-4 not long ago), and I finished all the Tower of Latria levels (3-#?). I also did the 5-1 stage. I'm using a Claymore+6 and Knight Shield+2. I thought of getting a Quality Claymore+1 when I had Claymore+3, but it seemed I wouldn't be able to upgrade it any further, at least with the blacksmith in the Nexus.
By the way, hj, isn't the Tower Shield better than the Purple Flame Shield, including for fire attacks? (I plan to test this soon, though.)
Anyway, awesome game. And I bet I could get a lot more out of it if I had an HD TV, visually speaking.

The Tower Shield has marginally better defenses (not against fire, though), but it also has an absolutely ridiculous weight (30). Definitely not worth it until a long way into NG+, or even NG++. You do realize that if you use up over half of your maximum Equip Burden, then your dodge roll will get nerfed and be useless, right? And you really want a proper dodge roll against a lot of bosses.
And did you find the blacksmith in 2-1? He can upgrade Quality-weapons. If you have been pumping stats into both Strength and Dexterity I would highly recommend you get a Quality Claymore instead. That one relies on clearstones for upgrades, btw, so you might wanna check if you have any of those.
