Hm, I never checked the weights of both shields, actually. I just knew both were really heavy, which is why I stickied with the Knight Shield, and made it +2 using a few leftover Shard of Hardstones. Also, I didn't even go to stages 2 and 4. xD But yeah, I suspected some Blacksmith there could handle those. Nice. By the way, I wonder if anyone else tried defeating that Demon Boss in the Tutorial level. Just a while ago I made a Royalty character to test if it could be defeated, and... it seems one can! I died though due a mistake on my part. Anyway, Royalty is a really good oponent for that boss since the character can use a relatively strong magic, and starts with that MP regen ring. (So when magic runs out, you just gotta wait a bit, running in circles to dodge attacks.) The character can also survive an axe hit if he/she has precisely 100% HP. (But not 99% HP or so... I know because I died in one hit with such amount. xD Either that or the boss had more than one attack, which I don't think it's the case.)

There's a pretty huge difference between the two, since the PFS just weighs 8.
You should get your Equip Burden pumped up anyway, since it's very important for melee characters to be able to wear proper armor and still roll. Did you find the Ring of Great Strength in the dragon nest in 1-1, btw?

I did. xD The one that raises equip burden capacity, right? It's cool stuff. Oh, by the way, I'm not sure if there was another way to do it, but I killed the Dragon on stage 1-2; I climbed on a tower, equipped a Compound Bow (now I have a White Bow) and about 300 arrows, and I fired arrow per arrow each time it came down for some fire breathing. I also let myself stay with low HP and equipped that Rat ring or something that raises my attack power when on low HP, which made things a lot easier. I wonder if I was supposed to fight it on stage 1-3 in some "normal" way though. I just know there's a dead Dragon corpse on 1-4, which looks like the Dragon I killed; or it could have just been some other dragon.

That's the one. That ring is a godsend. And nope, that's how you kill it. Same deal with the Blue Dragon in 1-4, though it's significantly harder to kill. Especially after it flees to the stairs.

Oh, yeah, I did get that far just a while ago; I kept firing arrows on him until he decided to move from there to the stairs. What is most annoying, though, is that in the stairs there's that NPC I saved, Fiorr of the Twin Fangs (who also helped me against the 1-3 boss), and he keeps getting hit by the dragon's flame over and over again. He takes 13 damage each time he's hit, and I think he has about 500 HP, or perhaps a bit more, judging from the speed his HP bar kept depleting. Anyway, once I got there myself, I tried firing arrows, and I stayed as close to the dragon as possible (a single step closer would get me burnt), but unfortunately, it seemed the dragon wasn't taking a single hit, as his HP never showed, nor did I see blood coming out from his body each time the arrow was supposed to "connect". Naturally, I rushed to my death the moment Fiorr was about to die, in order to save him. Good thing that much worked. Anyway, needless to say, I'm clueless as to how I may be able to beat that dragon. I'm thinking of trying to break through the flames with the purple shield, at least, as well as with that ring that raises magical defense. Speaking of NPCs, damned be Yurt, the Chief. xD I noticed most NPCs, including a few that I saved, were disappearing one by one. Later, I searched for him in the Nexus, only to find out he's an assassin, and that he had "killed every living human in Boletaria, except for one", which was when he started attacking me. xD I was totally "WTF?"ed and killed the guy. Got his stuff, and I also got Sage Freke's stuff where he used to be. Anyway, now I can't change my miracles or spells anymore. xD The only NPCs in the Nexus now are: The Monumental, the Girl in Black Robe, the Blacksmith and the Storage guy. Oh well, at least I have with me all magics I think that are essential (Warding, Enchant Weapon, Heal, Evacuate). Though I kind of miss Demon's Prank, and I bet I'll miss that water barrier spell since I intend to break through 1-4 Dragon's flames.

Ring of Fire Resistance+Purple Flame Shield should be enough to make it. Also, you have to get underneath it before you can kill it. And damn, you fell victim to Yurt, huh? Well, at least you got his armor... Not only does it look tight as hell (in the good way, I mean), but it actually is a great armor set too. Provided you have the EBC (equip burden capacity) for it. But the Purple Flame Shield is still more important. Though you also need 18 Strength to use that properly, but since you're using a Claymore I figure that's not a problem.
Also, the only magic I ever used was Soul Arrow, so you're good I think.

I grinded 30 levels in Strength and 24 in Dexterity yesterday. xD That's because I wanted to use the White Bow. Now my Soul Level is 67 or so. It didn't take more than an hour to grind the levels, though, since the red octopus mob in the last Archstone of level 3 gives 3500 souls with the Ring of Avalice equipped, and starting from that archstone, you can kill the two of them from behind easily. And, yeah, Ring of Fire Resistance! I totally forgot I had it. Thanks for the tips.

With that much Str and Dex, a Quality Claymore would work wonders for you, since it provides stat bonuses based on those two stats. You may as well just start pumping up the Endurance now if you still don't have enough to use the full Gloom Armor set and the Purple Flame Shield.

Yeah, Endurance is my main "goal" now. And maybe sometimes Faith, since it raises Magic Defense. By the way, I wonder what the maximum Soul Level is. I certainly hope it's not 99.

It's not, I'm above SL 130 already. You can level up high enough to get 99 in all stats if you're patient enough. But there's not really any fun in that. I'm still not even close to being able to use the Blueblood Sword, though...

Max level is 712, where all stats hit 99. Good luck hitting that legitimately though, the game (and souls earned from killing enemies) stops scaling before you even reach 10 playthroughs.
I set it aside once I hit SL 300 and playthrough 57, I was hoping it'd keep getting harder, but....I was dissapointed.
Demon's souls difficulty comes from it's learning curve. Once you've gone over that, the game becomes a lot of laid back rapid fun, because you know how each enemy attacks, where they are, how to respond, what you can skip, what you can't, etc etc. So you get to the point where you can do a playthrough in about 2 hours.
If you watch the blue dragon, he breathes fire left and right, and then right and left. Your best chance is to stand on the far right and wait for him to start breathing from right to left, and then run. Hope you're not over 50% equip weight!

Wow, that's really impressive. I'm awed. But, I guess you must be right about the learning curve; once you get the drill, you do things better and more calmly, keeping things under control, without slipping. Hm. By the way, I wonder what you two think of the Online mode. From what I read of Adol's posts, it seemed not to work as well as it was intended, though I admit it keeps me... interested. For now, though, I'm settled on finishing my first playthrough totally in Offline Mode, then I think I'll try messing with things on Online Mode.

Sometimes the lag makes pvp annoying (I'm assuming it's due to people either being dicks or just not knowing how to setup a network properly) but other than that the online is fun.
Co-op and PvP is pretty active until SL150 or so, then it starts to taper off (People can't stand playing one character for more than one additional playthrough, usually) and player matching for both PvP and co-op is limited based on soul level. The gap increases as the levels are higher, but not enough that high levels can play with a wider range of people.
At SL300 it's pretty much just me, soul signs, and bloodstains. heh

What about invading a player's world as a Black Phantom? Is there also that SL restriction? =o Anyway, I see. Hm, I wonder if there is any way to bypass those Soul Level issues. Like, perhaps trying to get to play with someone using that person's Friend Code or something to that effect. If not, though, well, a pity. xD
I wonder for just how long I'll play this, though. I think I'm crazy enough to get reeeeeally far. xD

Same with invading. Though the rule is the invader is a lower level than the body form being invaded.
Other than the lag you get sometimes from an invader, I find the pvp very very fair. Of course, you have people who unplug their network cord just before they lose, so they don't have to go get their bloodstain. But this is the way gamers are these days.
If you've got the Atlus release and get around SL275 for whatever reason, I'd be game for doing some speed runs with you for fun.

Sure. xD And yeah, I got the Atlus release.
Also, I don't think I'd unplug if I lost a PvP. xD Perhaps unless if a soul level meant about 1 million souls or something, though. xD But in that case, I wouldn't enter a PvP battle in the first place (when you use that red stone, I mean).

Ah yeah, one tip: Don't use the red stone if you aren't playing on one of the Asian releases. Fair play isn't in the dictionary of people who play on the NA servers.
And the only other way to lose soul levels through pvp is when you're invading someone and you walk off a cliff (or get shoved off).
