Well, I'm waiting for the Origin patch before playing that, and considering how full my list is, I was planning on letting Ys 7 rest and wait for possible news of a localization before playing it. But rest assured, it will be played eventually.

I heard some of the songs on youtube for Ys5 and didn't find them to be so amazing. Does anyone think the PS2 version is better sound/gameplay-wise.

sgp6, you really have to play the game to get the full gist of the music, and what its trying to accomplish.

Oh big time, sometimes the association with playing the game, or have played the game really changes your views on the music.

Context seriously does do wonders... It's fun for me because I listen to a lot of music before actually hearing it in the game, and then when I do, I'm completely blown away. Man, I bet Sora no Kiseki's OST sounds great in context...

OMG, wait, I said Ys V didn't quite feel like an Ys game, but anyone who considers oneself a true Ys fan WILL eventually go through Ys V. Thinking of skipping it is...! A waste. By the way, I think the most entertaining and best (in many departments, such as music) version of Ys I and II is Ys Book I & II (Ys I + II in Japan), released for TurboGrafx 16 CD a.k.a. PC Engine CD. It was later rereleased for Wii's Virtual Console as well. Its success was IMMENSE. Why do you think PC engine was also one of the chosen ones for an Ys IV game, despite the fact the console was dying? Yeah. (My personal favorite Ys game, as well as many other big Ys fan's.) Ys COMPLETE, YsVI/F/O... all of those are really kickass Ys games... but I don't think they are the best. Sure, they are among them, but that's only the tip of the iceberg.

That is something I'd have to ask Kimimi about. She has tried to get me into the series, but I haven't found the time. I'm waiting for some cheap PC specials before I get into them. Plus, isn't there an English walkthrough faq for one of them??
I'm getting sidetracked, ether way, if they are musically similar to the LOH III-V games, than consider me interested.

Actually, if Ys Chronicles was in English, that would definitely be my preferred version of Ys I & II, but since it's not, I'm quite happy with Complete and that music patch-thing. Sometimes I play it with the original music too, though, because that's great as well.

Why do you think PC engine was also one of the chosen ones for an Ys IV game, despite the fact the console was dying? Um, actually the PC Engine was still going strong at that point. It's only the Turbo Grafx that was dying, though, even then, Ys 4 did come close to being brought over to the US. In any case, one of my pet projects to sometimes do, is to remake Ys 5 for the Turbo Grafx CD, making it more like the other games(mainly with me on the soundtrack, making it more.....rockish). But, I doubt we'll ever get to it. I know at the very least, we don't have an engine that could be used for a fast paced action rpg. I am however in my spare time, working on a Turbo Grafx CD version of Super Bonk(& eventually all the other Bonk's that didn't get a Turbo release), since we do have a working engine for platforming, of which I am making the music more....Bonkish(since the SNES version is quite...boring for the most part), but only time will tell if the game truly comes to fruition. I have too many damn games I wanna help create for the Turbo!

sgp6, you really have to play the game to get the full gist of the music, and what its trying to accomplish. That very well may be true. I don't really have an SNES or am really interested in getting a copy of the game though. I guess I could download it and just emulate it but, I dunno we'll see. I guess if I'm looking for a game to play, I could give it a whirl. On a side note, the music sort of reminds me of classics SNES music, like chrono trigger or something similar.

For me, personally, I don't think it would do me any favors. Ys V clearly isn't the ultra-fast-paced anime-styled 80s-rock-accompanied slam-fest that I'm used to, and I consider that a pretty big downer. When I play an Ys game, I want ridiculously fast pacing, anime-style visuals, and cheezy 80s-style rock music... not medium pacing where you have to stop to swing your sword, more realistically-proportioned western-style visuals, and orchestral/dramatic music. That's not Ys, to me... it could be an awesome action RPG, but it just doesn't make me think "Ys". I'm basing this off of the 2 or so hours I played of Ys V, and the many YouTube videos I watched of dungeon-crawling and boss battles. It's possible it'll be more Ys-ish than I expect... but I don't want to get my expectations up. I'd rather expect little and be surprised than expect a lot and be disappointed. -Tom Is this your way of awakening the Ys V OST maniac Seldane?

The Seldane/FM-Ninja was/is (Who knows the true fate!!!) an audiophile that hates anything made after 1994.

I prefer to believe that he was dead all along. His soul was affixed to the files left in the old download section. Once those were deleted, we lost a part of Seldane that can never be brought back.
Yes I know, I watch too much Star Trek.
