Haha, well I should probably replay the campaign first so I won't suck at it, but after that I'd definitely be down for some games!

The thing is, I've sunk almost all of my free time into COD multiplayer. I bought Little Big Planet, which I really like, but even that got pushed aside. I'd also recommend Assassin's Creed I and II. I kind of got a bit obsessed with those games when I started playing them. Especially the story- man, I <3 the story to them so much. Done and done. My roomate last year had them both on the 360... though, he didn't like my style of play, which includes very little sneaking, lots of swordfighting, and lots of innocent killing (beggars especially, I'm such a good person). :P

I'm gonna stick with beggars. Nothing is more pleasing to interrupt than "Please, sir, can you spare a coin?" with a knife to the gut. Also, retards are annoying, but I feel a little more bad killing them. Just slightly.

Ok Falcom, any time now would be great for an announcement.

I kinda hope it's NOT just a high-res port of Ys Seven... I'd much rather they announce a remake of Ys IV or Ys V. Or Zwei 3. Or Gurumin 2. Or Brandish 5. Or Xanadu Next Next. ...Ooh, or how about Dinosaur 2? It'll never happen, but that would be seriously awesome as well! -Tom VM Uzbekistan

Went through the old IR reports to see when they announced their previous Christmas games... and in conclusion it seems like it could be any old time before the end of the month. They've never announced one during November, at least, and they could afford to leave something like Ys 7 until closer to release than a new title because, well, it isn't an entirely new title.
2009 - 29th October (Win 7 titles) 2008 - 19th September (Sora no Kiseki Boxset) 2007 - 15th October (Sora no Kiseki Material Collection) 2006 - 27th September (Ys Origin) 2005 - 26th August (Xanadu Next... not really 'Christmas' as it came out at the end of October)
And while I too would like most of the titles wyrdy listed (except for Brandish, which I know isn't my thing, and Dinosaur, which seems like it isn't my kind of thing either), we're getting Ys 7 and I will be grateful. Providing it's on PS3 of course.
Considering all the games on that previous IR list a few years ago are now out it'd sure be nice if they gave us another one already!
At the very least I'm expecting Ys 7 PS3 this year, Zero no Kiseki PS3 some time next year (Not sure if they'll dare announce this until next year simply to avoid annoying those who've just bought it on PSP), and most likely at least a Ys 4 remake at some point. It seems too obvious of a choice for them to not do. Along with the obvious Ys 8 and Legend of Heroes 8 (or Zero no Kiseki the 2nd).

Ys Seven PS3 or an Ys IV remake are definitely the two possibilities that'd make me happiest. I guess the other stuff would be nice (except for that Dinosaur game), but I can't say I'd really care since I haven't played any games in those series.

Maybe they hate us and we'll get Drasle Family/Legacy of the Wizard HD

They'll probably need a few more Zero no Kiseki-sized hits before Falcom is a big enough name that they can just do something like that without really worrying. It's best they play it safe for a little while longer, I'd say.
And idk, maybe my copy of Legacy of the Wizard just hates me, because never in all of my years of gaming have I done anything that comes remotely close to 'getting close to finishing Legacy of the Wizard'. Some games are just TOO hard, I think, and Drasle Family fits that bill for me.

And why all the anti-Dinosaur sentiment? I didn't think the game was MY thing, either, but after playing it, I was blown away! Definitely one of Falcom's most underrated titles, with one of their creepiest, most "mature" settings. I'm not really 'anti-Dinosaur', it just doesn't seem like my kind of thing, mostly because of the viewpoint. Then again, I got through Shining the Holy Ark, which is basically the same, so who knows, maybe I could enjoy it if I could be bothered to play it. It's currently sitting on my shelf with the other Falcom games I've got in offers and never really played, like Zwei the original and VM Japan and one of the old Legend of Heroes games.

Wasn't Falcom using the Phyre Engine for something on the PS3? I just went back to the list of games developed using it on wikipedia, and Falcom was removed. Not sure if that means they were playing around with it and decided not to use it, or if Ys VII isn't being produced anymore or what. Presumably since they said it's coming out this year, it will... I guess I'd just like to see some confirmation.

I believe Xanadu has captured a sortof haunting feeling as well. Granted it's not the same, but somehow tredging through endless caverns, losing your way, while single-handedly facing more and more difficult adversaries lends to the atmosphere. I can't really speak for Dinosaur, though one of these days I would LOVE to pick it up! Until it's translated though, I'll have to sit it out in favor of Dungeon Magic.

I'm pretty sure anything Falcom announces next will be awesome as long as it's not a straight port. I mean, I love Ys Seven but a simple port with slightly prettied up graphics... nah. Throw in full instrumental music and I'd start to get interested. Full remake and there'll be a small sonic boom as I rush to grab a PS3 (assuming that's what it's on) ASAP.
Of course, they could also pretty much remake anything in their current library and I'd go for it. Drasle Family? Epic win. Xanadu, sign me up. Sorcerian, Ys IV or Popful Mail? I think I might cause a rupture in spacetime trying to get that PS3 yesterday.
Actually, while it'll probably never happen it would be awesome if they brought back the Falcom Classics line with PSP remakes of a couple older titles in one UMD. Say, Drasle Family, Xanadu and Star Trader. No need to go to Oath in Felghana lengths but enough to make them look and sound respectable with some gameplay tweaks to make them more modern.

If they announced Zero no Kiseki PS3 this month I would be frustrated, CAUSE I WOULDN'T BE ABLE TO PLAY IT FOR YEARS.
So yeah, gimme Ys Seven PS3 or an Ys IV remake.

I really want it to be Ys VII PS3. They said it wasn't supposed to be a port, but rather a reimagining of the same plot. I'm hoping that amounts to longer, redone dungeons, along with the better graphics/instrumental soundtrack.

And some sort of coliseum challenge where you can fight awesome optional bosses that aren't just gloried regular enemies. And Raud. Seriously, where was the Raud fight?

If they altered the soundtrack I would cry. Honestly, it should be left untouched; it's already perfect as is.
And yeah, a fight with Raud would be great. A 1 on 1 with him and Adol, Crossing Rage! as the boss music would be glorious.

Wyrdy: Interesting. I might have to give it a try at some point then if it's that good. I don't suppose it supports window mode does it? That's half of the reason I haven't got round to playing Zwei or the old Legend of Heroes games yet, I hate not being able to window them VM Japan... I just haven't played. I enjoyed what I played of Portable (not much) so I'm not sure why I haven't. I just... haven't. I'm even saving the soundtrack for when I do!

Also also... I'd be all for an arranged take on the Ys Seven soundtrack, definitely. Sorry Disgaeamad. I'm all for any options, like they did on the PSP releases of Chronicles and the like, but I'd much rather it be an option and not forced. I want the original soundtrack as it is, but options never hurt anyone. And yeah, while I got the VM Japan OST with one of my weekly specials a while back I've never actually listened to it through. Or unsealed the game. Dinosaur supporting windowed mode definitely makes me more likely to bother with it though, maybe I'll have to see if I can get round to that later in the year or something. There's a big gap of 'no games' between Golden Sun DS coming out and me going on holiday at the end of December.
