Elena artwork shown by some Elena fan working for Falcom And this one is also his XDDDD I don't know if it's relevant, but that's what he says before showing the Dogi-like Elena picture ADOL TALKS Feena artwork shown by some other Falcom employee Do I see a PCEngine and PS1? xD Someone sleeping on the floor. Makes me recall certain days Ghost Adol and Roo The Roo disappeared into the monitor! Defy Gaw once and you get stomped by people (and Roos) Defy Gaw twice to screw with him Uh... HEY!
What's with all the No votes!?
So many folks didn't experience it!? :((((( Just because it's another PC version doesn't mean you should ignore it. ;;o;;~

I'm not ignoring it anymore, thanks to Red Hairdo. *changes his No vote to Yes* Yeah. That's EXACTLY why I enabled the option to remove a vote. You'll enjoy it, MP. It IS a very good game. Awesome game.

By the way korzic, I'll test those Ys I COMPLETE bugs you previously found out in Ys ETERNAL sometime. I hope they're still there. =) Maybe you should check if skipping Lair is possible in Ys Eternal...? I kind of doubt it, but it may be worth looking into. It's possible that some glitches may be present in Ys Eternal, but not in Ys Complete (or vice versa). Also, if you watch segment 7 of my run, you'll notice that the red corpse that drops with Pictimos is there as well. And on an a bit of a related note, after reading this topic, I can't help but wonder whether or not it was a good idea to submit my run as "Ys Eternal" to SDA. I did explain to them that the version I played was actually called "Ys Complete", but submitted it as "Ys Eternal: Ancient Ys Vanished Omen". I did that mostly because it is never once called "Ys Complete" in-game (even in the credits); in fact, the words "Ys I & II Eternal" are displayed at the top of the screen throughout most of the run.

It's possible that some glitches may be present in Ys Eternal, but not in Ys Complete (or vice versa). Ugh, you still won't let go that "skipping Lair" theory. xDD OK, since you asked I'll see what I can do in this version regarding her. By the way, I already DID test a few of the bugs (and I even discovered a few more!). For example, there's that bug that's done when you equip the Evil Ring without the Blue Necklace, then you try to remove the ring and a message appears, then you exit the Equipment screen by pressing the "E" and die with the massage box still there and stuff. It also works in Ys ETERNAL, however you also said you couldn't open chests with the message there for some reason. But in ETERNAL, you MAY or MAY not be able to open it: when I battled Pictimos with the message there, defeated him and tried to open the chests in the room behind, I simply couldn't. However, if I defeated Pictimos first, then did all the previous steps to activate the glitch and then went to the same room behind, I COULD open the chests. As well as open any chest anywhere in the tower. And it's funny that the Healing Ring doesn't work with that message on. Nor can you recover HP by standing still in the "hallways" of the tower. I wonder if it's like that in COMPLETE too. I'm still doing thorough bug testing in Ys ETERNAL. xD I'll give a full report about it later. Also, if you watch segment 7 of my run, you'll notice that the red corpse that drops with Pictimos is there as well. Yes. Just today I saw you Pictimos battle and I saw that same corpse falling. I wonder what it could really be? xD (And some skulls also fall with it.) And on an a bit of a related note, after reading this topic, I can't help but wonder whether or not it was a good idea to submit my run as "Ys Eternal" to SDA. Hmmm, yes, that's a good question, and a bit worrying. Because, for example, if one did a speedrun of the actual Ys ETERNAL... it could cause some trouble and/or confusion. I understand why you sent it with the ETERNAL name... but isn't there any way you can perhaps send them an e-mail trying to tell them Ys I COMPLETE's actual name? =s I think something should be done.

Ugh, you still won't let go that "skipping Lair" theory. xDD OK, since you asked I'll see what I can do in this version regarding her. Sorry, I just can't help but wonder. XD That stuff you mentioned about opening chests with the Evil Ring text working after Pictimos, I can confirm that's also the case in Ys Complete (although after getting an item, I have to clear the Evil Ring's text box to proceed). I guess I didn't think to try that due to how the segments were structured (right before a boss). I can also confirm that recovering HP outside Darm Tower/with the Heal Ring on doesn't work while that text box is there. Looking forward to that report. It kind of looks like a human body (maybe without the skin...? ). Probably just the remains of a previous victim. Well, I did tell them. Twice. But, it's their site, so I told them to do what they wanted regarding how they'll list it. They never really addressed it, though, and I guess they just went with what was in the run comments I sent them. Should the run be accepted, though, I'll send them another message (they usually wait a while to post a run, even after it's accepted). No point worrying about it if it's just going to be rejected.

Well, we accept it anyway. Also, good to know the Evil Ring thingys work in both versions. Well, I'm still testing a lot of stuff though. ' The report will take some time to be completed.

Well, we accept it anyway. Honestly, I don't really care much anymore whether or not SDA will accept the run. At this point, I'm just glad to have actually finished it.

... I didn't see this written in nunuu's Guide. XDDXDXD Keep disturbing the guy sleeping on the floor. Talk to him for 10 or so times. XD Someone has to record this. XD Please. (I would if I could. xDD) HA. You had font size=99!? Does it even support anything higher than 7? ^^; Anyway, it's not in the walkthrough because I never harassed the guy so much. :B Meanie. Eh, if I ever get around to playing Ys Eternal again (.... dunno when that'll ever be), I might update the guide. I gotta add stuff about getting into Darm Tower anyway. And maybe change around spellings of some of the names to the ones in Complete ... like Nightwolve suggested a few years ago. .____.~

HA. You had font size=99!? Does it even support anything higher than 7? ^^; Haha, xD so you saw that while quoting my post Well, I think size=10 is the highest. But I HAD to put that number in this very case. =) It was SO funny and unexpected. You have to talk to the guy exactly 9 times. Plus! I found 2 minor bugs that are exclusive to Ys ETERNAL! (The Ys I COMPLETE & Ys ETERNAL in-common bugs report will still be done later.) - Get stuck in Alen Smithy's Graveyard (not being able to enter the Developers Room): Get a "Game Over" screen by making Feena be killed. Then enter the Graveyard (that is, press and hold "Y" and "S" keys, then press "Enter"). Once you talk to Gaw and choose the first option, Adol will follow him until Gaw touches the monitor and disappears, like expected. But for some reason, you won't! You aren't taken to the Developers Room and now you're stuck. xD - The other bug is very simple: for some reason, you can't use the Mirror more than once, even when its effects are already gone, unless you enter some sort of screen or exit the room you're in etc., which is weird.

Actually, I've also observed that one in Ys Complete. I usually just re-equip the Mirror, although like you said, loading up a sub-screen or exiting the current room will also work.

Ah, so it IS also in COMPLETE afterall. I planned to check that later. =) Thanks for the help. Hm, it's curious. I mean, it's something so simple and stupid, I wonder why Falcom overlooked it.
Anyway, bug-wise, Ys ETERNAL and Ys I COMPLETE seem to be identical. Afterall, they do share a lot of the same code. As far as we know, the only bugs that are exclusive to a version is only within said version's unique features (COMPLETE's Time Attack, ETERNAL's secret rooms).

For those who don't know, Ys Midi Super Collection apparently came with certain editions of Ys ETERNAL, and Falcom purposedly put 2 of 4 of the game's soundtracks into this disc, probably to boost their Special Edition sales. You install the missing 2 STs separately into Ys ETERNAL. Yes! In the end, Ys ETERNAL actually has 4 different soundtracks: CD-DA, MIDI GM, MIDI GS and MIDI SC-88. They are... incredible. T___T By the way, to any of you who is a fan of SNES Ys V's soundtrack, try listening to the SC-88 version of "First Step Towards Wars". It's shocking.

I think the special/limited edition had more than just the extra tracks. IIRC, there were illustrations as well and the hardbound manual~!
I ... just recall it coming in a large box. ^^

Yay! Nunuu, I read your faq for when I played Complete, which may have been stupid, but they're both similar. BUT I REMEMBER I DID. You kept talking about the Chinese version, right right right! WE WERE DESTINED TO MEET. I LOVE YOU! <3 Oh, yeah, I might just have to play this now

This is the first Falcom game for Windows I got after Lord Monarch Online and the Mona² Demo. I read the Ys I eternal reviews and saw the pics on many different websites, including nunuu's and the Ancient Ys Library (and other places). I finally got an illegal version of the game from the AYL that was available once for a very short period and got quickly deleted. I used to play the game on my old 486 sx2 66mh under win95. It was working beautifully. The most awesome thing about Ys Eternal is that it's only a 256 colors game (Ys 2 Eternal is even more unbelievable with the same number of colors). The game was quite small with it's midi files, like 30mb (when compressed). I gave it to a lot of my friends who were fond of the Ys series. I bought the game a few years later.
EDIT: Oh, IMO, the cd-da tracks from Ys Eternal are better than the musics from Ys 1 Complete.

Thanks to a friend, I just got a chance to play Eternal and it IS very nice! I will still say I prefer Complete but Eternal is very nice as well... I still didnt get to play too much of the game since it kept flickering and would close out when I tried to leave the first town ( I tried Red Hairdos fixes and, alas, they didnt help). Regardless, I liked the little bit I DID get to play As for the music issue, I still think Complete's WAVS are better than Eternal's CD-DA although some MIDIs are better from Eternal than Complete. Thanks to MP83, though, I can easily have the 3 MIDI soundtracks as well Completes and now have FOUR MIDI versions if I want to play them in Complete! I also converted the Eternal CD-DA to wav and they do actually work with no problem in Complete (although you can only have either Completes wavs OR Eternal's...not both)

I have the official game, but it always crashed every time I exited the first port town. I haven't tried it in a while due to that. I'm 100% sure I know how to fix that. Also if the game screen keeps "flickering", there's an option in-game that solves that: Choose the first option of the "option" menu, then click once on the "VRAM" option. In case you can read katakana characters, it should be saying "VRAM - System". However, by doing so, although rarely, some CGs of the game might get hard to see, but you can easily fix that by... simply moving the mouse around. Though this also happens in Rasteene Mine for some strange reason, but then all you have to do is to play with the mouse in there (and playing with the mouse is just as good anyway... =x). This solution is not possible for Ys Complete? For my problem of flickering
