Mostly just visual appeal and lack of spoilers. All of my friends who watched my Complete LP loved Moondoria, so you know what you're doing. Obviously.

forgot about watching this until now. I like how you switch to Chronicles mode right before the solo and end with ITEM GET. There was a bit too much mindless running around, but Moondoria is not that big of a place (only 1 screen) so I guess you were just trying to work with that and making the video long enough to give a sense of the soundtrack differences.
If not Moondoria than maybe Noltia? Noltia has more room to run and you could've shown off where the healing cape was hidden as a nice little secret bonus while still ending on ITEM GET.

And Moondoria's music is awesome.

I also think Noltia's is better. And this is coming from somebody who doesn't mind the overabundance of metal tracks in I & II Chronicles.

Adol is so metal, he rams into his enemies to kill them.
That's pretty effing metal.

And now I have the mental image of the video for Holy Diver only with Adol walking around with a sword instead of Dio

I love Origin Nytilger, as much as I hated it at first. First of all, AWESOME poem. Second off? The "peed" part is funny. Third? I'm slightly dyslexic, so every time I see the name "Nytilger" I keep thinking it's a tiger... "Ny til ger"

First of all, AWESOME poem. Second off? The "peed" part is funny. Third? I'm slightly dyslexic, so every time I see the name "Nytilger" I keep thinking it's a tiger... "Ny til ger" YAY! Loving the reaction to the fact that I like riffing off of music. Peed just worked, especially if you sing it in a Ronnie J Dio sorta way. Oh Dio, the world is lesser for your passing. For a moment I was worried I'd misspelled his name. He is quite a tiger in his ride-ability, but he has the L for Loyalty. To his hobby. Which is interpretive dance. Ask Nytilger for directions? Record from above, and then watch as a masterpiece unfolds. RaisinD'elicious Stamp of Approval! Yay!!! Really glad people are liking this. If I had a decent voice, I would try to find kareoke version of the songs and singing. I'll probably just find other songs and make them about Ys. Because all that glitters is Cleria/and he's finding a book-way/to Y-y-Ys OOoo-oo-oooo ooooo-ooo-o-oooo... ... Hooray!

Translation: We inserted pointless silliness and dated references that were not in the original game Oh well, at least you'll have fans with the lolinterwebs crowd. I guess even I enjoyed Working Designs "translations" when I was young and before I knew better

Could you tell me what the crude thing was, or do I have to get out my Japanese copy? // Now I want to decode the runes in Origin. I KNEW they spoke English!

Works for me. There's a time for being absolutely faithful and there's a time to spice things up a bit and a hundred minor variations on 'Why are you hurting me?' is one of them. If it's really a big deal, you can always play Legacy of Ys.

There's a difference though between a genuine variation on some repetitive dialogue and "HERPDERP Lady Gaga iz funnies!", or whatever the kids are into these days.
PS - I have no idea what Wyrdwad's done with the dialogue, so this isn't a judgement on his work.

Yeah, yeah. I knew there would be dissenters. But you try editing THOUSANDS UPON THOUSANDS OF LINES OF CHARACTERS SAYING VARIATIONS ON THE WORD "OUCH" without feeling inclined to add in some silliness to maintain your sanity. -Tom It stands out to me that you don't try to defend your work as adding flavor to otherwise bland text, which is a valid stance, but instead you make the excuse that you are doing it to protect your sanity. And this is mild. It is something I'd otherwise ignore. 'cept that given XSEED's track record with the translation of the Ys games so far it is a red flag. It is a hint that liberties are being made and now I don't trust the quality of the translation. It's called flavor text for a reason. It doesn't stand on its own to present the game, but it does change the taste of the work as a whole. If the original Japanese does not contain memes and references, then the translation should not. I can't wait to see the first monster that says something along the lines of "HERP DERP" Anyways, I'm done now because Wyrd will always try to get the last word anyhow

Translation: We inserted pointless silliness and dated references that were not in the original game Oh well, at least you'll have fans with the lolinterwebs crowd. I guess even I enjoyed Working Designs "translations" when I was young and before I knew better I actually rather liked Working Designs' version of Lunar 1 and 2. Yes, there might be some pop culture, dated references. But I know japanese humor. Sutekii sutiki. That is all I am saying. This is not just translation. It's LOCALIZATION. You don't keep jokes about bath houses if there are no bath houses in the game and they have no relevance. You don't need to keep the random food items without pictures named after japanese food. You shouldn't call Tonfa Nunchaku, but that's different. Yeah, yeah. I knew there would be dissenters. But you try editing THOUSANDS UPON THOUSANDS OF LINES OF CHARACTERS SAYING VARIATIONS ON THE WORD "OUCH" without feeling inclined to add in some silliness to maintain your sanity. EDIT: OK, maybe not thousands upon thousands of JUST "ouch"... but thousands upon thousands of lines devoted solely to fireballing villagers? You bet! And then ANOTHER thousands upon thousands of lines of monster dialogue that either consisted of Japanese puns or utterly banal one-liners along the lines of, "I like to eat humans." -Tom I defend this 100%. I havent played it yet, but for example... the SotN "You don't belong in this world" line the maid has in Ys Seven? GOLDEN! Whoever did that needs a thumbs up! Keep on showing theres more to localization than knowing korewahondesuka is asking someone about a book
