I've been playing this for the first time in forever, and I can't remember how to get the rate ingredient for the invisibility potion. Ya know, the one that's not batou ash.
I know deuce says in his guide to to call ruse, but I already did that and all he does is give me some letter from Karn.
I don't even remember what this item is. Is it one of the items you get in swamps to give to that one demon?
Any help would be appreciated.

There are five ingredients in total.
The leftmost ones are required.
Batou Ash is bought in a shop from Leeza's village. The other ingredient, whose name I have forgotten, can only be acquired once (so if you already used it, you'll have to restart the game). From Promarock, head north. Once you are in the plains, find a "Ruce calling" spot. He will give you. Aside that one, another ingredient you obtain in the same way is just above Karna's village, in its plains to the north. Find a "Ruce calling" place there and call him. I'm not sure which, but one of those two is the leftmost ingredient.
By the way, I'm not sure if you have to call him before i.e. the rise of the Ancient City or some other event. I believe I went after those two right after I acquired the Teleport Magic.
If you didn't even obtain any of those two, ever, then I have to ask: did you call Ruce always when you found those "Ruce calling" spots? There're even two which aren't too noticeable, like the one in the abandoned Ice Mountain Village, or the one just below the Moon Village (Banjo's original village). Perhaps you shouldn't skip them or something. Anyway, I didn't follow Deuce's guide, but when I checked it later, I saw that his method for obtaining those two unique ingredients were the same as mine. And I know it's impossible to have more units of those. Well, as far as I know.

Like I said before, I called ruse right outside of promalock, which is where he's supposed to give you the item, but all I got was a letter from Karna.
Maybe I'll try calling him in another spot, then going back to that spot again. I was thinking of getting all the ingredients anyway, so thanks for the info.
I actually haven't used any of the calling spots. I guess I can't get to the two you mentioned since I'm at the end of the game. Oh well.

Okay, so I read the letter, and called him again, but he still won't give me anything at all. Does this bird hate me or what?
Do you have to do anything aside from calling with the wind flute to make him give you items? Do I have to feed him or have something equiped?

Ah, that might be it, then.
What exactly is written in Karna's letter then? And does its text change when you exit the screen, return and call Ruce again? (It probably doesn't.)
I do think you aren't able to get those ingredients after the Ancient City has arised from the ground. I recall that trying to call Ruce on those spots a second time (after the City arised), I had a new letter from Karna. So that's probably it.
If you want, though, I have a save file with Leo's Equipment, which is what the potion is good for. Though in that save file, I'm already before the last boss. xD Just offering.
EDIT: Major typos corrected. xD

I think it's a lost case, as I said above...

Dammit. I remember getting this at the end on a previous playtrough.
Screw it, I'm gonna keep trying and hope something magically happens.

Oh God, I actually did it! I just called ruse over and over again, and I ended up getting all the mixing items, even some kibie dust. Weird.

WTF All at once or one once at a time?? Also, know that you can get more Kibie Dust just by going to that chest in the Romun Fort where you first acquired it from, but once again. The chest will be closed. (I noticed that when I returned for Leo's stuff.)

WTF All at once or one once at a time?? Well, one at a time obviously. A lot of the time he didn't give me anything, but I just kept calling him in promalock and arieda repeatedly, and he'd eventually give me something. It only took me about 20 minutes to get the two rare items AND the kibie dust. Also, know that you can get more Kibie Dust just by going to that chest in the Romun Fort where you first acquired it from, but once again. The chest will be closed. (I noticed that when I returned for Leo's stuff.) Yea, I actually noticed that, but I had no idea ruse could give it to you. Makes me wonder if you could get it earlier in the game and bypass sneaking into romun castle altogether. That'd be hilarious.

lol ' You know, I think that's possible. I mean, seriously, I really had to give a lot of thought to find a way to enter that fort... I only realized what I had to do once I spoke to the Moon Village elder, who said something about dressing like a Romun, and then I recalled when those guys thought Adol was a Romun soldier because of the equipment he was wearing when he first visited the village.

I recently completed Ys IV and was very very curious about Banjo and her mixing exploits! Are there any other combinations of ingredients that will make interesting potions/items??? Also.... ***SPOILER*** ***SPOILER*** Hopefully that spoiler alert is good enough..... It'd be interesting to see what other cool (or not) stuff we could make here! (if thats possible!)

Yeah, you can make a variety of potions. It wouldn't surprise me if this was common knowledge by now, but I haven't seen it written anywhere, so I spent some time experimenting with the various ingredients. Ruce can randomly bring you any one of the five ingredients, some of which can also be purchased or found: Yolm Root, Batu Ash, Kibie Dust, Hihof Leaf, and Rehva Hide.
Combinations:
1) Yolm Root + Batu Ash = Clear Potion 2) Yolm Root + Kibie Dust = Black Potion 3) Yolm Root + Hihof Leaf = Blue Potion 4) Yolm Root + Rehva Hide = Red Potion
5) Batu Ash + Kibie Dust = Black Potion 6) Batu Ash + Hihof Leaf = White Potion 7) Batu Ash + Rehva Hide = Green Potion
8) Kibie Dust + Hihof Leaf = Black Potion 9) Kibie Dust + Rehva Hide = Black Potion
10) Hihof Leaf + Rehva Hide = Yellow Potion
Clear Potion and Black Potion: We know what these do. The Clear Potion is required to obtain Leo's equipment, and the Black Potion is required to advance the story. There appears to be no other use for these.
Blue Potion and White Potion: The Blue Potion reduces Adol's STR by 70, and the White Potion reduces Adol's STR and DEF by 70. I have not found any positive effects to offset the negative ones, so these potions ought to be avoided. It's possible that the amount that Adol's stats are reduced by depends on his equipment or level; I don't know.
Yellow Potion and Green Potion: The Yellow Potion sets Adol's current HP to 400, while the Green Potion sets Adol's current MP to 200. These effects do not appear to expire naturally. As long as Adol's HP and MP are above their normal maximums, you will not be able to use items that restore HP and MP. Healing at a clinic cancels these effects.
Red Potion: For the duration of this potion, Adol's physical damage output will be doubled, but he will not be able to use magic.

If I'm correct, I believe you alternate from post to post and the ingredients are dropped at random, which can take awhile to collect.
