Did someone say Wander Wonder? : )...... GS, I love this game. It's Zelda, Alundra, and Ys, all in one package with a bit of a Diablo item/loot system from defeated enemies. It's not impossible to play in Japanese. I've finished about 99% of it, with the last remainder being that of a multi-floor bonus dungeon that I'm not yet man enough (or woman enough since you unlock a certain playable female character who packs a punch) to defeat it yet. But all of the other secrets I've located, and there are TONS of secrets and treasures and trinkets and cool gear to discover and collect. The story is pretty solid, (I understood the gist of it at least), the gameplay is fun and full of areas that if you are dextrous enough, you can often find hidden items to benefit you earlier in the game... It also has a perfect balance of action based combat and platforming meets puzzle solving, and some of the puzzles are indeed as hard as Alundra's puzzles. Maybe not quite as hard, but definitely harder than Zelda. Though some puzzles will oftentimes parody Zelda. : ) If you are interested in playing it, please let me know if you have any questions or if you get stuck somewhere. I was planning on writing a faq for the game at Gamefaqs and I have a set of notes that I kept as a reference for how some of the puzzles are solved and several save game files that I saved throughout the game. If you want to see the box art, I uploaded scans of it at GameFaqs: www.gamefaqs.com/pc/959707-wander-wonderAnd the old Compile website manual for the game here D4 / Amusement Center Website For Wander Wonder: www.amusement-center.com/project/aiky/origin/wander/Got Wallpaper? Now to get it to play in something other than Windows XP, which is what I used to play it, you may want to follow the advice found in this thread here-Thomas

I managed to download the game on some sit before the link ended and got it to run (had to switch to (J) Unicode). played it a bit and it looks good (I like it ) but I don't think I'm going to play the game (at least not any time soon) because I have a lot of mapping to do and many other stuff (mapping I do on my free time). I guess when I finish with BraveProve, Ys4, and Ys2S I might pick it up again. I cant seem to fined any videos online of the game.

SkyeWelse, dose your copy of the game crop the text? in the stats option the info for level and gold as well as the item durability is cropped in my copy, but in the manual it shows it all. why is that? is it a bug?

I believe when I was running the game in winxp, some of the text was cropped as though it was too large to be displayed inside the window frame. However, if you use something like the DXWND program I mentioned earlier and apply the correct settings, it should run it pretty normally with the text kept inside the dialogue boxes.
Either way, as long as you are able to read most of it, that should be enough unless you are trying to translate it, then that might be a problem. : )

Hey, I met the serie recently and I was looking for the translation too, but looks like there isn't news about project since a very good time, so, I'm gonna play it anyway, but I must know, is there some kind of connection between the titles besides Origins, I, II and IV? Cause Oath in Felghana has a totally different story and I was wondering if with V, VI and Seven is the same...Thanks!

If you mean connections to the overall Eldeen plot arc, then no. Ys V is standalone, although there's good reason to suspect that whenever Falcom gets around to remaking it, they'll change that in the same way that Oath in Felghana connected the events of Ys III to the overall plot. Ys VI is directly tied in to the Eldeen arc and was the inspiration for the changes in Oath. Seven like V is unconnected.

I see. Well, I'm gonna jump to VI and wait for a remake or a translation of V then. Thanks a lot.

Learning Japanese is the only way. But a possible and feasable way!

the problem with japanese versions of Ys is that they use too much archaic japanese speech (and some non-common use kanji, and even kanji combinations that creates words that only exists on the game), what makes it quite incomprehensible with just average japanese skills :c

did something happen that made Aeon Genesis stop the project and start newer ones? He was 80% complete. did he run into a problem he cant solve? I was looking forward to Ys5 and LadyStalker(50% complete). Has anyone talked to him? did he give a reason?

There was a huge bug but he fixed it about two years ago. Beyond that it's probably just the number of projects he is working on.

I think he just lost interest, but not enough to openly say it. I think that's how he works: pick a project he's in the mood for, kinda begin on it, declare it's 99% done in his page without reaching even 10% in actuality, leave it to rot, and if anyone dares pick it up, scream "I'm working on it!!!! MINE!". And bump into other projects that are actually moving forward such as Fire Emblem 3 and then stagger them and repeat all of the above, until the project is taken back by the original staff and finished.
So, don't put much faith in his fictitious "80%". We are at the mercy of other hackers (not translators: Deuce already translated it!) to do it, or we learn Japanese ourselves. (I think the latter might be worth it!)

There was an issue where menus were causing the game to crash. Is that the bug Xalphenos speaks of?
