Yeah, considering the huge number of Ys-related CDs I'm surprised Falcom haven't released an OST for Chronicles. God knows I'd pick that up in a heartbeat. Happy to hear synthing items is easy. Ys is one of the few rpg series I'm comfortable with playing in Japanese as their quite straight forward. Usually things can be solved with a bit of random back tracking... looking at you, Origin. XD Still, wouldn't mind a reason to buy the game again. ^^

It was mentioned in the IRC, by Varion, I believe. And it's an awesome feature, indeed.

The one who made the thread mentioned it, when he was complaining how long the intro was or something. xD Anyway, I'm curious to.... know Ys SEVEN. But I'm hanging in there.

Also, just fought the boss wyrdy quoted floofy gushing about earlier in the thread. Oh man that was epic.

My 18.31 yen: Ys Seven has more in common with Ys V than VI: • Massive amount of weapons/armor Actually, V had the same 'five of a type' as I and III, the lowest number in the series. IV was the previous leader with ten of a type. You're right that there's a huge amount of stuff here though; I've seen more weapons and armor for Adol alone in the first two hours of Seven than you see in twenty hours in most other Ys games. However, there's one thing found in both V and VI that's suspiciously absent in Seven: Terra dammit, where is she? You'd think she'd be sticking to Adol like a barnacle.

Does Drama CD tell anything about where Terra is off to during Ys Seven?

in twenty hours in most other Ys games. Where the hell have YOU been buying Ys games that last 20 hours? Apparently I've been missing out

Yay! I can finally post non-off-topic stuff in this thread! ^o^/ Playing on Normal! And damn, the game system IS FUN! *____* (I am sort of disappointed that Dogi can't just punch rocks that are part of the background. :() I LOVE the dashing/rolling. It's the only way to get around, I tell you! XD I ... just have to learn to stop doing that in boss fights. ^^; (That is, only use it when necessary.) Lord, I tried to take on the first boss at level 2 and ... it was taking much longer than I wanted it to. Kind of a straight-forward and boring fight but I got lazy and decided to restart the game so I could level up a bit more (as well to fill the Skill gauge to max). I kind of miss the English text when the bosses show up and when you first enter towns and dungeons. :| In fact, it looks weird without the English text. Oh, is it just me or is the dialogue text kind of blurry at times? :( And heh, I like how there was an option to just have Adol and Dogi watch the scene playout between Tia/Tear and Maya with the punkass Dragon Knight guy. Whoever chooses that is not worthy enough to control Adol!!! .... Man, I was playing the game in bed and didn't want to stop but I needed to get up early today AND the PSP battery was almost gone anyway. (AC adapter was in the computer room so I couldn't just plug it in and continue. XD Well, I could but that would require getting out of bed. I needed sleep quickly!) RAR. The game NEEDS to get to PC as soon as possible. I want to see it in super high and sharp quality! But most of all, I wants me some clear text! (Psst. The intro wasn't long at all! And the short snippets that show the entire area of a new location is rather short too!)I do have a question, though... I encountered the scholar in the Altago bar, who gives you quests 5 and 6, but not until AFTER I beat the first boss. And one of his quests is to gather materials from bosses! So did I miss out on fulfilling that part of the quest? :( Guidebook flowchart shows you get a crap ton of quests after the first boss battle and nothing about prerequisites so no, you did not miss anything. :3 Random: Does anyone play like me and just sort of pick up spoils in the middle of fighting several enemies? ^^; It's like, I'd have Dogi punch a monster to oblivion and then immediately run around to gather all the stuff regardless of the fact that there are about 2 more enemies trying to attack him and Adol. I take it I should get out of this habit eventually if I don't want to get killed? XD

Gosh. Enemies are pooping items all over the place and yet, there's only ONE thing I can fuse at the moment. :3 I hope I won't have to resort to grinding for items anytime soon as I hates that. A LOT.
I'm resisting from flipping through the Ys SEVEN guidebook cuz I KNOW I'll somehow see the final boss. :P
I love the flowcharts for each chapter~! They contain point-form info and anything that needs to be expanded on are in little info boxes between the pages of the same chapter. <3
I just hope it's accurate though in terms of, like, everything. :P I also hope it's not one of those punkass "LET'S ONLY WRITE ABOUT THE FIRST HALF OF THE GAME!!! NYUK NYUK! :BBBB" sort of guides. Although, the table of contents seems to make it look quite complete. :3
(Whoever started the whole thing about only providing a guide for half a game needs to die if that person hasn't already. I'm glad US guidebooks typically aren't that demented but some of them do seem to leave out crucial info!)

I kind of miss the English text when the bosses show up and when you first enter towns and dungeons. Thus far none of the bosses I've seen have even remotely cool names like all the VI/Oath/Origin ones; they're all kind of boring. No Roarings in the Abysses or Tyrants of the Blazed Spheres, just Double-headed Tortoises, Unicorns and Giant Boars. Booooo. Has anyone actually refused to help? I'm curious how that scene would play out if you didn't jump in. Not that I'm sure how anyone can refuse to help. Yep. Thus far I haven't run into any enemies so dangerous that I can't afford to stop and collect goodies mid-fight. I suspect that'll change later on. Might have been someone at Squeenix. I know they release tons of early guides (sometimes before the game actually comes out) that only cover part of the game.

It is a complete guide. Last bosses spoiled for me. lulz. yotaka: Now that you mention it, the guidebooks I have that do the half game crap ARE for Square Enix games. @_@; Well, except the ToP PS guide from Namco which was split into 2 books. Oh, and the ToD PS one too which didn't even HAVE a second volume, IIRC. (Those bastards.) I think even ToE had the same problem. Sigh. As far players refusing to help Tia and Maya and such ... Well, I'm too lazy to hide the text since I don't consider the following to be spoilers as they happen pretty much at the start of the game~! Here goes~~~~~~ I'm just replaying the part where Maya gives Adol a flower (cuz I oddly saved right after getting off the ship at the port. ^^;;;;) and DENIED THE LITTLE GIRL HANDING OVER THE FLOWER! >:D Making Adol out to be an ass can be fun! Maya's portrait become like >:( But! After that, something goofy happened! I put the PSP down for a second to read something on Pidgin and when I picked up the PSP again, the little girl was flat on her face. ^^;;; I believe she tripped! ^O^ 'Course Adol and Dogi get worried and rush to her side! She's okei though. ... And Adol still gets the flower. ^^;;;;;;;;;;; Someone needs to make a compilation of all the variations in scenes. Just because. (And it won't be me.) Ha! You can trigger the harassment scene at the fountain just by talking to Tia, going to another screen, and then immediately coming back. Now for Jackass Adol Moment #2: If you choose just to let them be, you're given control of your character again and you can just leave the area. >_>; However, the dialogue of the NPCs around the fountain changes to reflect what's going on. If you go back again, you can continue to mind your own business! (As in, if you approach the group, you're given the options again.) I'm surprised Dogi doesn't say anything since walking away from a damsel-in-distress is not Adol's style! :P But, uh, yeah, you can't really get out of Arthago City if you keep being stupid like this. :P =============== Edit #23435: Guh. Weird. You can get Quests 5 & 6 before the first boss fight. :o I wonder if it's because I already went into the cave? ^^ Haha. I have over 3000 whatever-currency-the-game-uses. Gonna up Dogi and Adol's protective gear now. XD Overlevelled and overprotected for the first boss battle. I rock! *is going to keep adding to this post today*

More walls of text!!!!!!!!!!!!
Beated third boss last night~! Didn't die but man, I suck at avoiding hits. XD
I really despise the combination of those giant-red-disc-tossing flowers (Madbiworl?) and goblin archer (Org Row?) things. The main issue was that there isn't much room to work with. :|
And if this game is translated into English, I hope someone goes out of the way to make funky Engrish titles for the bosses. :3
Oh, I did another Jackass Adol Moment! XD I refused to escort a lady back to town! XD XD I think I saved over it too so I can't go back and change the decision. But, I figure if I'm ever curious enough, I can just ask one of you guys since I'm sure EVERYONE ELSE is going to pick the "correct" option.
Wonder if it'll have any affect on stuff later on?
.......
The game doesn't have invisible "relationship points", does it? >_>
One annoyance I found with the game so far is that it tends to give you quite a few quests but most of them can't even be completed until you get to "chapter 6" (which I have no idea what it is because I ain't looking for spoilers).
And judging by the quest list, "chapter 6" seems to be when more than half of the total quests get resolved too. @_@
Well, I'm glad I found out when they're supposed to end or else I'll go through the entire game fretting and wondering which ones are ready to be closed off. Saves me some time from constantly going back to the people that want the stuff too. :P
Speaking of which, I noticed that them non-key-characters no longer have names~! :O! Guess Falcom got tired with thinking up weird names for people. XD
Oh yeah~ Question~~ How does the SP multiplier kick in? Is it just by landing continually successful hits on enemies over an prolonged period of time? Although I noticed that when I was pounding on an enemy that Dogi's attack type was weak against, it didn't give me any multiplier.
Question #2: The Support Abilities~ Do they affect the entire party or just the individual?
Random: *ish still waiting for an awesome boss battle of sorts*
Random #2: *ish waiting to hate on the fire area BGM* Afterall, it's been a trend with the Ys games I've played. :P

1. Support abilities affect the whole party... though of coure they have to be in your active 3 to take effect.
2. What SP multiplier?
